  1. What about 7:35 in No Exit? "Lester, come on, I got a job for ya."

  2. I personally think it's at the Metro Dade Police Station, where you see uniformed police officers like Robert Hoelscher for instance. Or at least at another separate location. Because the OCB headquarters was a Vice cover and supposed to be a secure/secret location. Also it seems, that way because I've really been paying attention to the dialogue in S3, where Crockett says, something like, "We have to go down town to Metro." Not sure, where else it could be?

  3. Its hard to pick 5 Episodes out of so many great ones. Here is my try in no particular order (sometimes it changes over time of course) - Brothers Keeper For me still the best Pilot of the classic TV Era i know. No Pilot of any other show from that time match the excitement of this one. Its insane how much of the ingredients we love are still there in the pilot and so well done already. Not as balanced as later but still overall very good with some perfect sequences. Normally you write about pilots "Yeah it was ok but later on it got so much better". With the MV Pilot its like "It was great and later it was even better" And it doesnt happen that often that a pilot has one of the most iconic sequences of television history (In the air tonight) - Calderones Return (both parts together) A great follow up to the pilot. Those two (Pilot and Calderones Return) watched back to back are such a great viewing experience. And i like the whole vibe/music/setting of the calderone two parter. - Smugglers Blues Another one from Season 1. It has all the things i love about Vice and Glenn Frey was fantastic. Feels like a 45 Min. cinema movie and not like 80s TV. - Prodigal Son Its not the deepest Story of the show. I get that. But its so well done and so iconic. It feels like an 80ies theatrical movie and not like TV and has such a cool vibe with excellent music, performances and visuals. - Out where the buses dont run I love McGills Performance between crazy and tragic and also the atmosphere of the episode. The Ending is legendary with again perfect music choice. The whole "Brothers in arms" Sequence is done so damn well and one for the MV history books. Yeah that are some of the episodes that are legendary for me. But there are so many more. Little Miss Dangerous, Forgive us our debts, El Vejo and and and and...... Its impossible to reduce it to five. That list would also change from time to time depending on daily mood i guess. But the ones i mentioned are the ones i probably watched the most and some of them were my first contact with vice. So they hold a special place. As for the things about Season 3 discussed here: Its honestly for me the biggest mistery in the vice fandom why season 3 gets so much negativity. Feels Flat? Visuals reduced? I must see a different Season then. Yes Season three changed the whole style but they not lost it. They established a new color scheme but they worked with the same confidence level as in late Season 1 and Season 2. It was just a different visual style. But it was still all very style and glitz. Just different. It was a breath of fresh air for me. Yeah you could have continued at least for one Season with the Season 1/2 style and it would have been fine. But i actually like that they took a risk with it. And cause it was done with so much confidence i never felt that style was gone. It was just not the same. And for me production values were on an all time high until later Season 3 Episodes. It was the peak of the show in my opinion. Of course it helps that i also like the overall darker and more political storylines. Vice was never only lighthearted. Of course not. So dont get me wrong. But the even grittier tone together with the new visuals worked so good in Season 3. It still felt natural to me and not forced. And i still had the feeling of excitement and visual extravaganza. The show became more problematic with season 4. They no longer had a stylish identity. Season 4 was a bit of a mix of styles. It was not done with confidence anymore. They tried to gain viewers back because season 3 tanked a bit in ratings. For me the main problem was the new Time spot and not season 3s changes. But they tried to bring back viewers with giving them more of the old look but it felt forced an not natural anymore. Also the attempts of bringing more fun back were sometimes poorly done and made (together with other not good storys) for an uneven season. The most uneven Season for vice. And then of course the whole wedding thing to push ratings. I dont hate the sheena easton plot but it could have done so much better. And it was just forced. Of course there were still some amazing episoded like "Death and the lady". That is even one of the best episodes of the whole show. But it just lost something in season 4 for me. Season 5 is not as bad as some write but you could feel the budget cuts and it felt burnt out. And that burnt out feel was not all intended. I think most of it was about the budget cuts. Not as uneven as Season 4 but way more "ok" episodes rather than good and very good. And also some clunkers like miracle men. Still the season has some great ones like Fruit of the poison tree or Line of Fire. But here it really felt flat and sometimes lifeless. So i get the comments for Season 4 and 5. But i dont get at all why season 3 is viewed with so much critic from so many fans. If its script-wise not in your alley thats fine. But it was still working on full power for me. Until the last couple of Episodes it feels like that for me. And then the big quality break came with season 4 for me.

  4. As I've been rewatching the show, it's harder for me to say which episodes I like most. I really do honestly feel like each one is great. The episode with Switek and Zito had me rolling. I love those guys. It's a real shame in the later seasons we didn't get nearly enough of the Dade crew as we did in the first 2 seasons. People who only remember MV without really watching it seem to think it's all about Don in his white suits. The show was definitely much more than that. At least, it was at first. That being said, I just finished rewatching "Little Miss Dangerous" and it's another solid 10/10 from me.

  10. Yeah. Strangely, he tells the truth, then says it was a lie. Ultimately, Crockett discovers Noogie was telling the truth to begin with.

  11. I find a bit annoying that Morgan Ritcher is sometimes using her false personal perceptions as an “objective” reasoning for downrating an episode (on the contrary she is of course entitled to her own overall rating). She maintains for example that Lombard faked his death at the end of season one and his resurrection in WOT is therefore hard to believe. In fact, Lombard rejected to testify in court against Librizzi at the end of season 1 before leaving the courthouse and the last scene showed two armed goons in a car making a u-turn to follow him for a hit. Ritcher must have misunderstood the Lombard episode ending to make a wrong claim about a final fake death in that episode. Given the real end it is not so unlikely that he has been fleeing around the world with Librizzi on his heels and risks to resurface to meet his grandson. But I agree with her that there is a character continuity issue with Lombards son who was a complete different character in season 1. That’s a mistake they did several times with long arching storylines eg also with Ma Sek in Heart of Night. that they used Ned Eisenberg again after three episodes is weak but explainable. Cancellation of the series (and the decision to bring Librizzi back for concluding the Lombard arc) was decided after filming Lost Madonna.

  12. Personally, I would have had an easier time buying Lombard having a second son who was involved in crime. It's really a stretch to connect the two as the same character. There really is a feeling of two different episodes shoved together here. There was a big opportunity to give Lombard a serious, poignant send-off if they would've just left out the whole HAVOC thing. Schiavelli was also famous for appearing on Taxi with Andy Kaufman.

  13. Most of your picks are some of mine as well! Ironically, I love the 2-part Hit List & Calderone’s Demise (aka Calderone’s Return Pts 1&2 in syndication) best, but you have to have the Pilot to fully understand them, lol. Don’t get me wrong...I still do like Season 3 okay, by all means I don’t hate it. I just don’t feel it had the same impact and awesome plots Seasons 1-2 had. With different writers and sudden changes in the style, it didn’t go over as well as producers had most likely hoped it would. But, there are still some awesome episodes in 3!

  16. I've been cutting my own hair for the better part of 17 years now (just gave myself a trim this morning actually) and I never tire of it. It's almost like re-inventing yourself every few weeks. As for the 5 o'clock shadow, just keep those clippers closed and hit your beard every other day, and you'll always have the look. Just make sure to still shave your neck and above the cheekbones to establish the lines. I love rockin' a similar style to Don during the cooler months of the year, but if I ever lose my hair someday, I'm going with the full Jason Statham look. Open clippers on the head, closed on the face. No guards, all zero, all the way. Da Staffe' may not have Don's hair, but he can still rock a casual suit like it's nobodies business.

  17. THE MIAMI DEVICE Back in 1986, if you were male and suffered from stubble envy -- a disturbance characterized by a desire to have an always budding beard like TV star Don Johnson -- you may have wanted to pick up an electric razor that went on the market that spring, costing only $29.95 and leaving you with a 5 o'clock shadow 24 hours a day. It was called the Stubble Device. The Wahl Clipper Corp. of Sterling, Ill. made it expressly to capitalize on the sandpaper-chin look popularized by the Miami Vice sleuth. Rather than suffer the embarrassment of a clean shave, you could keep your beard fashionably semi-trimmed with the machine's handy one-to-five-day growth settings. The razor was originally called The Miami Device. But the company feared a trademark infringement lawsuit by the show's producers and -- even worse -- were afraid that Johnson could up and adopt a razor-clean look at a press agent's notice. http://tonymountain.blogspot.com/2010/12/miami-device.html

  18. Original link is dead. Updated link: I had never heard of the Miami Device, but it has been discussed here: https://miamiviceonline.com/index.php?/topic/2911-anybody-heard-about-the-miami-device-by-wahl-clipper-corp/ Does this photo look like it was taken at the Universal Miami Vice Stunt Show?

  20. There is a rather large gap between the pilot and Heart of Darkness, both in time and content. Like how many asses Rico (and Lou) must have had to kiss to get a disgraced NYPD officer hired by Metro-Dade... In addition, of course, Sonny changing from a SIG to the Bren. Any post-TF stuff you're especially interested in? I tied up most of the loose ends, but a few were left on purpose. I kinda like to see if what interested or resonated with me had the same effect on readers. Thanks for your comments, everyone!

  23. I always asked myself anyway whose smart idea it was to guard a safehouse(!) - in essence a secret location that nobody in the neighborhood should be aware of - openly with an M16??? That’s tactical nonsense irrespective of done by police or military. Castillo hopefully not. PS smart move would have been to place guards inside the garden. behind the wall. Hard to be seen from outside and much harder to attack or to neutralize, especially without warning the people inside the house.

  25. I do like Crockett's season 3+ looks as well. The problem is that it is just so hard to find jackets or cardigan styles that fit the correct way for the time period. I am not a fan of slim fit but I also don't like super baggy or loose fitting stuff. Somewhere right in between. Honestly, I have given away some of my initial purchases as I was trying to find my way. My best luck lately has been using Poshmark to find vintage stuff. There is a surprising amount available on that app. I wear a full Crockett look (not always white) when I am at our family condo because it is on a large lake and the town is very laid back in a Florida Keys kind of way. I just feel more comfortable there. The only thing I haven't tried are those scoop neck shirts Johnson wore. I don't think I can pull that off.

  27. Tubbs wears this shiny silk Hugo Boss suit a lot in season 3, but Morales also wears it once in “Killshot”. I wanna say at least one other villain wears it in another episode, too, but I can’t recall what episode(s)/season(s).

  28. Awesome, enjoy it pal! Meanwhile, I’m thoroughly enjoying my white 1993 Corvette C4 which I pretend is a Testarossa (jk) but here it is. Maybe I’ll get to buy a Testarossa one day. (Yes I’m aware the fender is bent out of place, I need to fix that)
