  3. You are right about the walk, but: the walk ends at the door of the playing room and the interior scenes of the playing room were not all filmed in the southern building but also in the eastern one! This is easy to prove: the wall color of the respective classroom interior (turquoise vs pink), the distance of the traffic on Old Cutler in the background and the „east“ sign above Ellen on the wall! In the arrest scenes (Beaks attacks Ellen and gets arrested) they filmed in the southern building as clearly indicated. in the picture below. So the X in your pic is only correct for the end of the walk and the arrest scenes but not for other the interior classroom scenes. For this purpose it (also) belongs to the eastern most building!

  5. Hi everyone, Is any of you in to Synthwave music? I have discovered it about a year ago, and haven't listened practically to anything else. It really reminds me of the Jan Hammer music. Also they have amazing cool sounding artists such as: Miami Beach Patrol, Crockett, Miami Nights 1984 etc. Here are a couple of examples of songs/albums I love: I think 'Crockett' is my favorite artist (must be the name) and I also love Morgan Willis's album Miami Calling. If you guys are also into this, please share your favorite songs/artists.

  6. Hi everybody! Am a long-time Miami Vice fan from Australia, and previously a sometime lurker on this site thought now would be a good time to make it official and join. Am looking forward to interacting with you all. Many thanks for the warm welcome too, much appreciated!

  7. What MV song am I listening to right now? ALL of them! My “80’s Vice” playlist has expanded to 236 songs and over 16 hours of music. It’s got just about all the Vice and Vice-ish Jan Hammer I’ve been able to find, every song that played on the series I’ve been able to find, and a bunch of other 80’s music that I feel should have played on the show. (Most of it 80’s hair/glam metal.) For the last month or so, every time I hop in my Camaro convertible, it’s the Vice playlist, with my “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood/Quentin Tarantino” soundtrack playlist occasionally mixed in. (LOVE that film. Mid 60’s through the mid 70’s is another time I just GEEK into.) My Vice-ness is pretty strong year-round, but this time of year, but when the weather really starts to warm up and the evening light lasts well past 2000hrs., it gets intense. A big part of it is real nostalgia for the late 80’s; when I had just graduated from high school, a decently cool car (1964 Falcon Sprint hardtop), a solid girlfriend was into the fashion of the moment, had a restaurant job that paid really well for a guy my age, was playing in band, etc. And MV was just so huge and pervasive in real time. I dressed in 80’s Vice style in high school and wore legit Vice-inspired suits to every dance. And I had the soundtrack cassettes blasting on my Kenwood KRC-2001 auto-reverse deck, out of the Pioneer 6x9 3-ways I cut into the rear deck of above mentioned Ford Falcon. And now that I’ve been retired from Law Enforcement for just over 3 years, there is some real nostalgia for all the good times I had in my 22 years on the job. Just this month I’ve bought 6 different linen sport coats and few banded collar linen shirts off of EBay, and a pair grey-beige wing-tips off Zappos. (I like the Season 5 Crocket style.) And I’ve started watching the series over again from the beginning. Still holds up in every way. Summer of 2020 is going to one hell of Ride pals!

  8. Thanks. That´s what I thought. Means we have a plan: @C Glide who lives near Naples now, drives over with a portable DVD player to Trail Glades which is at Tamiami Trail and interviews the owner about the MV range

  9. There is no doubt that it was a real range, permanent structure and the firing line looks exactly like the Trail Glades firing line. Outdoor ranges came and went in the Dade County area. I remember passing a small "cemetery" just before you came to the admin building at Trail Glades which had small 2 ft high headstones marked with the names of other ranges that had been closed due to accidents or safety violations. It showed the determination of the managers of Trail Glades to keep their range alive and safe. They were successful because it's still there. I remember this from the 50s and early 60s but I'll bet that range closings continued into the 80s and 90s.

  10. 8th track on this rare underground album that only had a thousand copies back in 1989. Madame Axe. Always reminds me of "Keith Mollis"! Usually I don´t dig gothrock punk but this song has a great drive. It´s about Lizzie Borden. "She gave her mother 40 whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father 41..."

  12. I doubt that this is a real apartment. The Twin Towers apartment looks different despite the fireplace (this one here does not even look operative to me...?). To me, the whole appearance - fully pink kitchen and kitchen window, glass brick wall, ... - resembles other studio sets used before. e.g. Tubbs apartment in Amen...send money (glassbrick wall) or Ginas apartment in "Bought and paid for". I am considering if there is any other studio set or components of it in other episodes that could look similar...

  16. I see what you mean about the two doors I searched Miami Beach for apartments with fireplaces and only got a few hits, all w/ fireplaces in the corner of the room. Those glass bricks in the corners of the room are very unique. It would have to be an end/corner apartment maybe? Could this actually be a set?

  18. News Flash: I have been working on updating this episode on my site because of the great work you have done and recent find of the long lost school. While watching the episode I was struck by a realization that I have trouble believing now that I did not catch before. While the exterior shots of Ellen's place were indeed filmed at 705 14th Street (now addressed as 701 14th Street apartment 3). The interior scenes that I thought were filmed inside, were not. But I may know where they were filmed. I recognized the layout and especially the fireplace from Bought and Paid For. Twins Apartments now Arcadia Condos, Gina's place. WOW! The unique fireplace is a significant piece of evidence. I continue to watch but it looks clear to me that it could not possibly have been filmed inside 705 14th Street. Pictures are now available of that apartment on Zillow and many things don't match up, floor plan, no fireplace and the front door is only a couple of feet from a wall that in the show would have been an open Livingroom. Also in the show they shoot from inside and show the open floorplan from the door but when Trudy is earlier seen running out we see a wall and door just inside the outer door. I continue to investigate.
