Proud to be included in this group. Not forgetting Tom, Timm525, and Dadrian. Left someone out? sorry. Maybe we should be called "The usual suspects."2 points

@AndrewRemington It’s by the same guy who did the huge mural on “One Way Ticket” and “Florence Italy”. His name is Rick Garcia. Look at this thread:1 point

Thanks, that´s what I thought, Bing works not at all with me (on Apple devices), just from above, no 3D and stops at half of the close range than Google. All that worked brilliantly until a few years ago. MS seems to be a "scientology" company now And, thanks for the offer, but we have parachuted an agent and he is on the ground already for recon. His code name is CGlide and he lives in a safe house in Naples, FL1 point

If you want to earn the command post on this, then please provide a frontal pic of the Deliver us from Evil house ! P.S. a first "rite of passage" would be a Bing 3D view from above on that house (Bing does not work on my computer)....1 point

In this MTV interview from Live Aid 1985, Benjamin Orr mentions that the Cars were possibly supposed to be on Miami Vice. It’s a bit vague, but very cool to imagine! I love the Cars. They are definitely one of my favorites!1 point

That is awesome! You know, that synth wind at the beginning of my song “Dreamgirl” was inspired by the intros to “Heartbeat City” and Billy Idol’s “Hot in the City”. Heartbeat City is a masterpiece album, but their previous releases were also incredible.1 point

I named my dog “Jackie” after The Cars’ Heartbeat City song. My absolute favorite!1 point

Wow, I definitely take that as a compliment, but I actually use the LinnDrum. I still have my Yamaha RX11 as well, but the LinnDrum is something of a ticket to the 80s. I would love to also get an LM-1, but they are scarce and expensive. The LinnDrum was also expensive, but it was just one of the sounds I had to have! You can’t change the pitch on each instrument, just the snare/sidestick, toms and congas, but I spent days just trying to tweak the snare pitch knob to the right sound for me. I would listen along to many of my favorite songs and try to find the exact same pitch but I realized I had to make it fit my own song.1 point

Among other things, you definitely have the Prince LM-1 drum sounds nailed!1 point

Lol, yes I am a member but don’t check in often enough! I think you may have posted this song a couple weeks ago, but I remixed it and reposted it (I am a perfectionist with music and often see flaws in my own work). Indeed, I wish this song could have been used in Miami Vice! I am inspired by Jan Hammer, as well as Prince, Michael Jackson, INXS, The Fixx, The Cars, The Reds, Billy Idol, Corey Hart, Duran Duran, Wang Chung and so many more. I aim for new wave with a little R&B flavor. I especially try to get a sound authentic to 1982-1986 or so.1 point

Dadrian! You have a keen ear! I was going to post my own song in this thread but you beat me to it! I definitely was inspired by the Reds! I tried to get a bit of the vibe of “Till The End” in there, especially with the verse guitar work. “Waiting for You” also gave a bit of inspiration. I love the Reds! They remind me a bit of INXS, whom I also greatly admire. Both band’s singers have a similar style.1 point

My friend just posted a new song. It’s pretty cool that he’s making new recordings at home that sound like they are 35 years old! Kind of reminds me of The Reds’ songs from Rites of Passage.1 point

Let's be real here. Don was probably, at most, 5-9, and given his size, probably never weighed more than 160 pounds. Back in the 80's, when big muscles were "in", he might've felt small by comparison (given what I've seen in certain promo pictures, I'm convinced he had lifts in those slip-on shoes to make him look taller). However, Don always had the swag and confidence that none of that mattered. So I say, whatever you got, be proud of yourself, and others will catch your vibe. Not everyone, but as long as you just keep that chin up, and not give a f*** what others think, some will appreciate your vibe.1 point
