Is there a list of music especially made for MV ? I'm watching season 2 (bought and paid) and heard Karla Bonoff - Cold Wind Blow and I know of smugglers blues but are there any more ? (apart from Jan Hammer and Tim Truman)

The show´s cancellation was not decided before season 5. It was decided in the second half of the season and officially announced to cast and crew right after "Lost madonna". I know that because Chip Chalmers, director of this episode, confirmed this. Right before Christmas 1988, DJ asked him at lunch if he wanted to direct and that he would talk to producers to get this approved. DJ kept his word, had a fight with Brams&co over this and Chalmers remembered that he was very lucky to get his first director´s seat (filming end of January to early February), because right afterwards "we got cancelled". The structure of the finale is not bad in general (it is simply partly mirroring Smuggler´s Blues that also mainly played outside of Miami), but I agree that the lack of other team members was a mistake. As to the missing big googbye: MASH is a bad example, as it was the first big TV show that got a real finale at all. Other shows had just a last episode of the season and that was it. And the MASH finale was 1982 as far as I remember. Considering the fate of other shows at that time who had no finale at all we should think that we were lucky that MV had a finale although it was not perfect IMHO.

Has anyone here or elsewhere with some connections ever been able to ask why the finale was structured and written like it was, essentially minimizing supporting characters, no real big goodbye ala' MASH, and having half of it not even in Miami? They obviously knew the show was ending before S5 even started so they had time to come up with something that didn't feel rushed and could've been really special, but they still chose the route they took. Someone should broach this subject with anyone that was in the production if possible.

I noticed him briefly in The Warriors as well. I've got a theory how he ended up on the show. Michael Mann being one of Walter Hills closest friend probably suggest him, there are so many actors in the show through his films. Olivia, Remar, Landham, David Patrick Kelly, Paul Greco, Thomas G. Waites, Brion James, John Snyder, Bob Minor.

Happy birthday, Dadrian! The big 4-0. I hope you can still celebrate today! I’m not sure how things are down in Georgia. Last thing I heard, the devil was looking for a soul to steal... One thing I always wanted to tell you is that you may be the “Diet Coke of Jan Hammer”, but that’s fine with me because I prefer Diet Coke to regular Coke. That’s my favorite “pop” as we call it in Wisconsin.

Wow! 40! Happy Birthday to Jan Hammer's little brother! Whenever I hear one of Dadrian's covers it reminds me just how truly lucky we are to have him in our Vice family! A true master of his craft, he never fails to amaze me! Enjoy your day buddy!

Today was my Season 5-ish look. Tasso Elba Island light sage blazer, Amazon Goodthreads Henley, Prana jeans, Nunn Bush shoes. Shoes are half-laced with some Xpand elastic laces so they are easy slip-on, kick-off. Tried them without any laces. Just too loose. I might try to get the tongue and eyelets stitched together in a way where you can’t see the stitching... We shall see. No shoulder rig. (Have had a few, never really liked them...) Glock 19 with RMR AIWB under the untucked shirt, along with the spare mag and Surefire light. Hair way longer than DJ’s ever was... The glasses are NOS Wayfarer 5024’s, exact same as Daytona365’s, probably from the same seller in Germany. Got them on Ebay for the same price. (I still have my black 5024‘s from high school, given to me by my then-girlfriend in 1986!) 5022’s are too narrow for me as well. Car is my ‘18 Camaro SS convertible. Black and Tan with silver wheels... Because, well you all know why.

This is one of my favourites, the melody is so beautiful. It's cool that some of these pieces were only used in one episode.

They're 5024, I have a 5022 too but the nose bridge on them is too narrow for me. The 5024 is 2mm‘s wider overall by the way, not just on the nose. got them off ebay for 269 $, there’s another NOS 5024 pair currently available from the same seller in Germany. People who ask a thousand bucks for this are nuts. I would only pay that much if DJ drives up my alley himself in a McBurnie, dressed in a white linen suit and hands them over to me personally.

Definitely Levi’s 501s. You can tell they’re Levi’s by the back pocket stitching and the leather patch. You can also tell their 501s specifically because 501s have a button fly which has a second denim part where the zipper would be. I’m a big Levi’s fan. They are the original, first jeans company.
