  2. You have to take into account one of the ways Sonny stays alive is not discussing every little thing. That's the routine that has sustained him and he isn't used to other people getting involved. He also wants to compartmentalize his life with his personal life on one side and the job on the other. That's his version of not bringing his work home with him and letting it interfere with relationships. The last thing he wants to talk about with his wife after 8-plus hours when he gets home is all the horrendous stuff he's been immersed in. Remember Sonny is a Mann's man like Vincent Hanna and I strongly suggest listening closely to the discussion Hanna has with his wife in Heat after finding the dead prostitute to get the gist of what I'm saying.

  3. I post in this thread too often, don’t I? Here are two unknown beauties from “Little Prince”. First one is a watcher at the polo match. Second one is an audio-specialist at the Vice OCB.

  4. This. Sonny was also always deeply involved in his cases (to a fault in many instances...see Down for the Count for just one example). I don't tend to buy the whole "they rushed it" argument simply because we have NO IDEA how much time actually passed between them meeting and the wedding. The kind of case Caitlin was supposed to be testifying in can drag on for ages, and Vice was always really flexible with time between episodes. I tend to think Sonny wanted to make it work (and explored this in a short story) because he felt it was his one remaining lifeline to the word outside the Job. Gina wasn't that. She was still part of the Job, no matter how many hairs you try to split with it. And to Summer's comment, in his early days Crockett WAS a jerk. One of the things I do in my fiction is explore both that side of him and how he could have matured once he realized what he was doing to both himself and everyone around him. If you look at Sonny through the eyes of Stan or Larry he's an ass. He has his moments, but in the early days he's a full-on cowboy. This mellowed over the seasons, but it always lingered just below the surface.

  6. Here's that magical video! Big thanks to @bodie for sharing. They said, "Please don't upload or share these anywhere else, they're for this community." So I don't think I'm doing any wrongdoing by reposting on this very site! It's an MP4 file. 808-742-980.mp4

  7. I wonder if they could have used this song in “Milk Run” for Jimmy’s character?

  9. This a great episode. One of my favorites I’ve watched many times. It definitely fits the thriller/horror genre. As mentioned before, I think “Psycho” was an influence, but instead of a son portraying his mother, it’s a woman portraying a made-up brother. Very odd. I am a big fan of Sonny and Caitlin. I am a big fan of Sonny, but I was really disappointed in his behavior. He was a jerk to Caitlin in several scenes. Especially when he says she’s interfering and takes off. That is no way to talk to your wife. She was just concerned and interested. If you shut her out like that, it’s gonna be the same situation as with Caroline (but we all know Caitlin didn’t live long enough for that to happen). Regardless of Sonny’s behavior, we get that awesome night drive scene with “The Madness Of It All” by the Ward Brothers. This is one of my favorite music moments in the series. Even though I get upset about Sonny’s behavior, I would still give this episode a 10/10. Very intense and has some funny moments. Great tunes. I laugh at the Choo-Choo scene. “Choo-Choo, baby!” and when Sonny says “I hate this!” when they’re chasing him.

  10. Nice current day shot off Key Biscayne looking to the Rickenbacker Cswy and Brickell (similar to what we see in the closing credits at times, also in “Lombard” when C&T leave the St Vitus with Lombard).

  11. From what I’ve read, product placement agreements typically have very specific language, such as for how many seconds and how prominently it appears on the screen. It still happens today. Often it’s the producers who first reach out to companies looking for potential compensation if a specific script is well suited to a certain brand or type of product. A very obvious and somewhat recent example happened on the TV show The Middle a few years ago. The story was about the show’s family using a neighbors new car without permission for a whole week while the neighbors went out of town and left them the house keys for emergencies. They apparently drove the car in numerous scenes for every possible errand and constantly commented on how it was such a nice car and why they couldn’t have such a nice car. I never saw the episode but I read about it in Newsweek, I believe it was. The car company, Volkswagen, paid quite a bit for what was essentially a half hour commercial. Ferrari, of course, handed Miami Vice two Testarossas for free, a form of product placement. They not only got them to stop using the replica, which is important for any high-end brand, but they gave them the newest model, not coincidentally. It went on to appear on a hugely popular show every week for several years. That was easily worth the cost of those two cars, I’d guess. Think of how iconic the Ferrari 308 is because of Magnum pi. The producers actually first approached Porsche, who chose not to cooperate. In hindsight, it was probably not the best marketing decision. Of course, they didn’t know yet if the show would succeed.

  13. I have yet to be convinced that Sonny and Gina were anything more than a crutch for some plot elements. For Sonny to survive he needed to move on, and that would never happen with Gina. No matter how much some might want it to.

  14. I don't believe it's possible to determine that from the information provided in the episode. My impression was that the brother was a total fabrication. We don't really learn why she was going after men who fit Crockett's dating profile and appearance, as far as i can recall.

  15. Yep! And there’s Eddie and Louis from “Milk Run” at the game table. Plot twist: Eddie recovered from his coma after the gunshot wound!

  16. Ya know I didn’t even notice the number the first time I read your post. I went back and was like...what’s he talking about? Something about seeing the forest for the trees. This was a distracting forest. I think this is her now in a nursing home playing twister with those.

  17. I agree with this so much! I also think this was a big reason why his marriage to Caroline failed, and why, really, he wasn't likely to be able to form a lasting relationship with a woman (unless he made a radical change in his personality and/or left the Job).

  18. And where prey tell is that “unblurred” photo you speak of? I didn’t see it. I know this is a family channel, but feel free to post it here. If Ferrariman catches you, I’ll deny everything...

  19. I love this episode too, and it’s one of my favorites of the season! It is definitely MV‘s version of Psycho, but it used a domineering brother-figure for a female, instead of the mother for a son or male. I’ll be honest and say I was never a fan of Sonny and Caitlin. I don’t dislike or hate her character by any means...but the way she & Crockett rushed into their marriage without taking into account that each of their careers were going to cause huge problems for the other, was stupid & ridiculous! In MV world she just wasn’t “right” for Crockett. In reality it was a last desperate, if not pathetic, attempt by writers/producers to try and get back viewers & ratings. It failed! But, I think that actually realistically showed as once ‘reality’ started to hit, their marriage was already failing by the time she was killed. But, overall I liked this episode—pretty wild for its time!

  21. Maybe they could have created a scene where Louis is waiting on Eddie to come back, then the Vice team are about to arrive at his door and the music stops when they knock.

  32. Here's a neat video about this topic... it's not as exact as @Mrich209's, which is as good as it gets, but if your hairstylist doesn't understand how to do long layers on men (which likely they don't because they've been steeped in modern disconnected hairstyles), then show them this: I'm thrilled this style is coming back. I never thought it would. In the 90s and 00s, it was RIDICULED to death. But what goes around comes around... the younger generation who weren't around back then is re-discovering a classic.

  36. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone posted this before, but this song is just perfection. Puts the image of a steamy sunset in your mind. I really love the LinnDrum pattern on this, also fantastic fretless bass guitar, and there’s some cool Yamaha DX7 sounds in there.

  46. I live near Miami and if I won the lottery I'd do almost the exact same thing. Not sure about the "Vice-themed weekend escapes and corporate events", but I'd definitely have a place that's decked out Neon lights, 80's decor, paint jobs, cars, clothes, the works. I'd throw my own private parties for family and friends and everyone gets a "goody-bag" of some 80's themed trinkets or whatever (maybe a pastel colored headband/wristband or something).

  47. Where I live, that’s about the right price for a house like that with a pool in a nice neighborhood. But I was still under the impression that even “expensive” Florida was still a bit cheaper than where I am, at least for a “normal” house. Would be fun to get some people to invest in buying it and restoring it to “screen accurate.” Then setting up the backyard with a little proper neon and such to make it look like some of the outdoor clubs in the first 2 seasons. Park a McBurnie in the garage and Caroline’s station wagon in the driveway. Fill one of the closets with Vice clothing of various sizes. Then rent it out for Vice-themed weekend escapes, honeymoons, parties, corporate events, etc. I know, it’s a total (crack) pipe dream...

  48. Glad you're enjoying it! I always felt the show really missed some opportunities with Larry, both before and after his murder. It would have given Stan some great chances to shine, but they never used them. So I felt compelled to. I really enjoy filling in Trudy's background. There was always so much more to her than they let us see.
