I just saw one of these aqua cars from the balcony of the marina where I live in Long Beach. I’ve been here 25 years and that’s a first. I looked online to see what I had viewed and found that it was made in the Miami area. I also found a photo of it by one of the Stiltsville houses. Here are the photos.4 points

Yes, it is a French set, so the language is in French. However, the menus are not hard to navigate or figure out. I have tons of memorabilia & info over the years, so I don’t need the extra stuff. I didn’t get the deluxe set…I got the regular one that just has the episodes (although there are some cool special features & interviews). The colors of the box art are somewhat interesting & different. It’s more silhouette type pictures, with the cast too…but it’s kind of cool! Something that hasn’t been done before. However, that’s just the box art. As for the episodes themselves, they are the best! The HD quality of the colors is amazing!! From everything I’ve researched & seen, it’s the best set available (even over Mill Creek’s, Koch/Plaion’s, and Fabulous Films’).2 points

Yes…even though it’s made by a French company, it’s region free! So, it can be played anywhere worldwide. However, even if it wasn’t, getting a region free Blu-ray player is not that hard or expensive either. I found the EF’s set on Amazon. There were actually two different sets…one a deluxe set that included a bunch of memorabilia as well & was pretty expensive. There’s also a “regular” set that doesn’t have the extra stuff, and isn’t as expensive. The menus are in French, but in all honesty they’re actually not very hard to figure out or navigate. The set includes the original English audio track, as well as a French one, and for sound it includes both the original 2.0 lossless sound (which some prefer) & the 5.1 surround sound.2 points

From the clips & photos I’ve seen, and also talking with others who have the Koch set, the colors are more on the neon, “bright” side…rather than the soft pastels of the original show. It seems like they kind of did their own HD color-scheme. Some have even commented on strange skin tone (a yellowish/greenish tone) on some of the actors in certain scenes. It seems as if they “overdid” the colors with everything. The Elephant Films set is much more accurate to the show, and there’s no “blinding” picture with whites or any other color. It’s much more like the show originally was & was meant to look—but in HD! But, to each his or her own…get whichever set you like or want.1 point

LOL I did read your fanfic story that covers this! It's always been my head-canon that although Gina broke up with Sonny after the Brenda episode, she always harbored a romantic love for him. She repressed those urges because she recognized that he wasn't a person to settle down with. In turn, Sonny avoided a romantic entanglement with her because he believed he wasn't worthy and would break her heart. In Prodigal Son and again in When Irish Eyes Were Crying, my hopes were raised that they would get back together, but the powers that be didn't go in that direction. In A Bullet for Crockett, to my eyes Gina clearly showed that she was still in love with Sonny. In Blood and Roses we see there is still a strong emotional connection between them, although some people don't see them as romantically linked but just good friends. I always saw a certain amount of sexual tension between them. Many believe Sonny and Gina were friends with benefits at least up until he married Caitlin, and I concede that's possible. But I never took it that way, and I watched the show as an adult, when it was first broadcast. It just seemed to me that after the "breakup," there may have been jealousy (especially on Sonny's part in Irish Eyes and on Gina's part in Like a Hurricane) but not a sexual relationship. Others definitely haven't seen it the same way; I'm not arguing that my interpretation is correct.1 point

Thanks for explaining this to me. I'm leaning towards the Elephant Films Blu-Ray set. The Elephant Films Blu-Ray set will play in U.S. Blu-Ray players?1 point

Sometimes to me, British movies from the 60–70s look “dated”, compared to even U.S. movies from the same time period. But, that’s also part of their “vintage” charm, I think. I’ll have to check it out.1 point

I think this is far and away the most likely explanation for this. Clip shows at this time were typically intended as filler for one reason or another.1 point

The Elephant Films Blu-ray set includes both the original lossless sound, and the 5.1 surround sound. It’s also region free…so it can be played anywhere worldwide. The German Koch/Plaion set is region locked for whatever Germany is. In my opinion I also don’t care for what the German set did with the colors (compared to other sets), and their claim of uncut episodes is actually not true. Their “uncut” versions are just the same syndicated U.S. versions people in the U.S. already had/have. But, in the past other countries, including Germany, had even worse edited/cut episodes than the U.S. ones. In recent years they finally were able to get a hold of the less edited U.S. versions…so that is their idea of “uncut”, when in reality they’re more “complete” than previous German episodes, but still syndicated/edited versions (as ALL home video & streaming versions are). But, they are NOT true original NBC airing, uncut episodes. Sadly, there is no “official” original airing, uncut set out there. I’m 99% positive Universal chose to use TV Land’s syndicated reruns for the original season DVD sets. These versions are what they’ve made available to all the other companies & countries (including the German Koch/Plaion one), for their DVD & Blu-ray sets.1 point
