  1. Just got these brand new for only $17. Similar to another pair I have but the back half is dark blue/navy. Something a little different but still retains the essence of Vice, IMO. I'm going to an 80's themed costume party in a few weeks, so it'll be fun to test these out with the white suit (as per usual, lol).

  4. If I might respond to your final comment about the fit of the shoulders. I believe the difference is that the shoulders on your jacket are more heavily constructed, which is the norm actually, but not present here with DJ’s jacket. Notice how it rounds over his shoulders whereas yours comes to more of a point. This is because of the padded lining added in the shoulder by your tailor. DJ’s likely had little to none, so it drapes more like a windbreaker jacket than a constructed one. If it were possible to put both coats on hangers next to each other, the difference would be even more obvious.

  5. A couple of Coral Gables news from a couple of recent days It now contains the most expensive neighborhood in the country - dethroning Beverly Hill Gateway - with a typical home in Gables Estates going for over $21 million. As a side note, while in early 2020 Florida only had 2 out of 10 priciest neighborhoods in the US, it now contains 7. California was home to 6 in early 2020, NYC had 2, now NYC has none and California has 3. Apple is taking 45,000 square feet of office space in The Plaza - the huge residential/hotel/retail/office complex recently completed in downtown Coral Gables. bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-04-10/coral-gables-tops-beverly-hills-as-ritziest-home-market-in-us bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-04-09/apple-targets-new-miami-office-space-following-amazon-microsoft

  8. Fast paced - and directed by Chip Chalmers who was an assistant director on the show. Good strong guest stars and locations including exclusive shooting at the Port of Miami in the early part of 1989. 10 out of 10

  11. That's 1 of my big 4 that I intend to have custom made myself someday. Though I want a brighter/lighter gray, and a regular notch lapel, rather than the shawl. In fact, every jacket I have custom made will have lapels that are more 80's style. For all the jackets I have right now, almost all of them are modern skinny/thin lapels, and I hate it lol.

  12. Yeah, the opening song was cringey as... even back in the 8oies Otherwise it is a solid and tragic episode

  13. Although the episode wasn’t top notch, it continued what I felt was superior writing in season 3 to the majority of the first two seasons. It seemed that they got consultants in that had an understanding of what was actually taking place on the streets and the drug scene in Miami and worked it into the story lines. I don’t know all references, but I think Better Living Through Chemistry was the earliest I can remember hearing the term “crack.” Everything just felt grittier and darker, which was the right tone for the times. To me, season 2 started to become less serious, with a ton of non-actor guest stars like Phil Collins, Bill Russell, Frank Zappa, etc. This was not a show to cut their teeth on in the acting realm and it felt cheapened. Back to Streetwise itself, terrible opening with the song, but it got better as it went along. Gina looked amazing in the skin tight outfit. Wesley Smipes was excellent and sufficiently viscous as a pimp and Bill Paxton was passable. I have to think this was filmed before Aliens, given that his hair is long in the episode but a military buzz cut in the film? Or am I misjudging how long it takes to grow your hair out? Predictable ending, but it is what it is. 7/10

  16. Hey guys, here’s a Crockett-inspired look I am proud of. It’s a vintage linen Valentino blazer from the 80s, matched with a pink t-shirt, wide linen pants, and canvas Toms.

  22. An interesting mystery is the beach house near the end of "Wild Things". It looks like Crandon Park on Key Biscayne. @Matt5 Did you ever see such a structure there? You actually see them walk inside and there is a working bathroom, so it's not just a facade. However, the Glades Motel was just a set built across the street from Jimbo's, so maybe this beach house was constructed for the movie.
