  3. I’ve never seen Dexter, but that photo is not from the LA area or even California. Wood piles are not used for docks on the west coast because the tidal bore is too large. Concrete piles with floating docks going up and down along them are the standard. The tidal range can be as high as 6-7 feet at times and the wood piles with docks fixed to them just wouldn’t work.

  4. Today we wish a very Happy Birthday to one of the actors of our favorite show, Miami Vice, .................. John Diehl! He played Larry Zito. We enjoyed him in all the episodes with his partner, Switek! Have a great Birthday, John!

  5. @MichaelAce your jacket is AMAZING! MiamiVibe is right about the shoulder pad part, but if you did want to try for the look in the photo below, I’m sure you could find some removable shoulder pads with Velcro (or something non-damaging). My mom had those in the 80s

  6. If I was a size 40, not only would I buy that right now, but I'd drive there to pick it up (Sebring is maybe 3 hours away from me). Anyway, I got a new jacket but it looks/fits kinda weird. It says it's 100% linen but the way it both looks and feels reminds me more of a robe, lol. Wasn't expensive and it does fit me well, plus it's super light, but it's very casual looking (Which I guess is good if I wanna rock it with a t-shirt and slacks). Any idea how to get this thing looking sharp? Somehow I think ironing/pressing it like a traditional suit is not an option, lol. Also, I have another jacket coming in, hopefully tomorrow, that's also 100% linen, but it looks nothing like this one regarding the material. I'll report on that later.

  8. Thanks! no wonder it doesn't feel and look like Miami at times. I am still waiting to see the Cape Florida Light, there was scene where Dexter was going to meet a serial killer there but they cancelled. So annoying

  10. Sorry to break it to you, but the jacket DJ is wearing does have shoulder pads, in contrast to what some other people said. Yes he also wore unconstructed jackets, but this ain’t one of them. The padding is what gives it that 80s silhouette, together with the dropped shoulders and oversized fit. Your jacket has no padding and a very straight fit, which makes it look like a regular jacket, not necessarily 80s. My advise is to invest in vintage jackets, because honestly, very few tailors or fashion brands are gonna be able to exactly recreate that authentic 80s look (unfortunately).

  11. Good question. Side note: I think they were filming in LA by this time in Dexter.
