Administrators James Posted October 30, 2014 Administrators Report Share Posted October 30, 2014 Hello all!It has been a long couple of weeks since the unfortunate event of the server dying. But that is now over, as we have managed to get the worlds #1 Miami Vice community back online! As you can expect, there was some data loss. Most of the gallery images seem to be missing, along with all avatars. The backup is from the 4th of October, which was a week before the site went down, so all posts and user registrations after that are forever gone. But the important thing is, Miami Vice Online is back! Thanks for all of your patience and support.

Administrators James Posted October 30, 2014 Author Administrators Report Share Posted October 30, 2014 (edited) Great work, James. Thanks a million times. No problem! I couldn't let the site die. I might change my username to James. Never liked SL1DE. Edit: I changed my username to James.Ok, the main problem now is that the Homepage is taking a very long time to load. And I don't know why. The site is still on Chris' server, he owns the site which would make him the Chief. I'm just the tech guy.

Sonny-Burnett
Top right corner, go to your profile, click on the avatar area. What I meant was that my previous Avatar is not selectable in the profile photo area. Seems to be gone.It was a brief motion scene from Def Miami. Chris got some of them back, I think he had to manually upload and set the avatars and just couldn't remember which one was yours. If you still have it, you might have to reupload it. Actually, I don't think you can upload animated pictures to IP Board, you'll have to put it on TinyPic and copy the direct link and paste it here:

My Avatar (moving) was created about 6 years ago by another member so I never owned the file. He managed to upload it somewhere in the forum but I don't know where it was stored. So if Chris is looking at this post, perhaps when he has some time mine was the motion scene on the beach with Sonny walking with Callie in Def Miami. Administrators KaeptnCaipi Posted October 31, 2014 Administrators Report Share Posted October 31, 2014 Take a Look at our Photo gallery. There's an album called avatars. You can chose an avatar from there. Also animated gifs are available.
Administrators KaeptnCaipi Posted October 31, 2014 Administrators Report Share Posted October 31, 2014 When our site was down I received some mails from members regretting they don't have the technical background to get the site back online. No problem so far. Some of them offered money to help, up to 100$. James did a great job the past days. As I did in the past, and will so in the future, he spent hours and days and free time to bring back our community. And as our community is going to exist in the future, server and domains will have to be paid. And we have to renew our forum software licenses. This is 60$ half a year to get support and software updates. And remember: mvonline is ad free and will always be ad free. At the moment I'm paying bills from my own private money. So if you like our site as much as you wrote me in several mails this would be a good moment to donate and help our site in the future. Donations are much appreciated. Thanks so far to everyone who donated yet.
