Moore it's finesse. there are lot of situations where he is in difficulty especially with women, but each time he flips the situation to his advantage. This happens often with Moore, and this is why it's my favorite. Moore it's the well functioning brain saying that Connery is the only Bond is a bit simplistic. Connery is certainly a great Bond, but personnally i prefer Moore . My brothers and I grew up with Moore so he was always our favorite. As a kid I didn’t like Connery at all. As an adult I have different likes for all of them but Lazenby. Posted October 25, 2022 Report Share Posted October 25, 2022 Moore was the first Bond I ever saw (but I had read the books before that so never confused the movie Bond and the literary Bond), but I preferred Connery because he came closer to the book version of Bond. But then Brosnan came along and I felt he was closer to the book Bond than Connery. I tend to think who you identify as Bond comes down to a single question: did you read the books first or see the movies first? If it's the books, you've formed a picture in your mind and whoever comes closer to that will be Bond for you. If you saw the movies first, I think Timm525's observation is solid. Lazenby was a great Bond. I forgot to say something. personnally i love Craig. not the Bond but the actor. Craig is a victim of the scenarists/plot. with the good plot Craig could have broken it all like we say here. OHMSS was a great Bond movie and GL a decent Bond (It was also special storyline due to the marriage part and the killing of his wife at the end). And of course great villain in the name of Christopher Lee. not mentioning Hervé Villechaize performance into the vicious dwarf role. mind blowing performance from H. Dalton is good, the Bond girl (even highly stereotyped) is cute, and J. Does anyone remember Steve Martin as a cheapskate James Bond on an SNL skit around 1987-88 with Sting as the villain? Sorry, quoted your reply twice...That's news to me but then I certainly can't be trusted to properly identify different accents from across the USA either! jpaul1 Posted November 1, 2022 Report Share Posted November 1, 2022 (edited) been watching from Russia with love (in my Bond moment . hope not hijacking this thread), and if no exotic places except the orient express like train the plot is solid. i totally understand why a UK magazine noted it 9th better british film of all times watched thunderball just after, and the villain is great. the casino scene is really great. Adolfo Celi is one of the greatest Bond villain IMO, along with Waltz. the film has epic scenes. like the underwater fight. and the balltrap scene. where Bond says i never used any weapon in my life, and hip-shoots the clay disk now watching we only live twice. and the introduction makes me think it's gonna be lot of fun. hope i won't be disapointed edit: we only live twice is great. really a good Bond. no major flaw. highly, not to say extremelly mysogynistic though. it's a bit of a shame because it's really a good Bond edit 2: diamonds are forever is average. not a bad Bond but not the best IMO. to her majesty secret service is not bad neither. the plot is a bit slow paced though. the final helos scene is great. even if there's a major flaw. when they destroy the lab that contains a highly dangerous virus with explosives. not realistic much.. It's just like "Like A Hurricane" + "Deliver Us From Evil"! (Now I'll prepare to get roasted...) I too have not liked a Bond film since CR, nor watched one since Skyfall, and I have my own opinions about everything, but I will always love my older faves. He’s the victim of average stories, his movies just don’t hold up as well because of the storyline - not because of ‘his’ Bond. The Connery era were the better movies of course, classics but I just feel that Dalton comes off much more authentic than anyone else. Brosnan got stuck with bad scripts on the whole (it's sad when the video game is better than some of the movies...).
