I stumbled across an old picture today in the Bought and paid for thread that hit me. It´s the building that Crockett chased Arroyo around. lobby of the Collins Park Hotel, 2000 Park Avenue, Miami Beach The hotel is under heavy renovation and will be hard to recognize afterwards. Luckily we have old pictures and enough evidence! Key matches to make my case; 1. we have the two half curved full height windows with an entrance in between of an old Art Deco Hotel. The windows are 2x10 blocks each with a quite high base height (they start not on the ground but higher up. 2. the entrance door matches in distance to the two curved windows on both sides, as is the small window above the door. 3. the corner window that we see outside fully matches with the corner if we re-create the camera angle from inside the rotunda to the outside ) In order to do that I borrowed an old Goodle Earth view from airtommy from the BAPF Thread as the hotel is under heavy renovation right now). On the google View we can see that the hotel indeed has (had) rectangular corner windows 4. Vegetation and outer yard we see behind the window fits too 5. and now the biggest proof: the unique pattern of the Collins Park Hotel, which has a "2000" above the door as can be seen in old pictures and if we watch closely in the episode we see the last end of the reverted "2" i the right upper corner of the small window above the door! 6. UPDATE: I found an interior pic from 1987 shortly before the hotel was destroyed by fire (arson). All unique interior marks are there: the wall lights, the light panels, the stucco, the inlet rounds in the wall, even the curtain with the flowers that we see in the episode! They did a great job to decorate the lobby like a mortuary. I also attach an exterior pic from 1987 to show how it looked like when VICE filmed there in Oct 1986. ENJOY! Oops - my post started a new page. Here’s the new find from Tom folks.
C Glide
Wow great work. I happened to be there when it burned. DanJ, my wife, and I were doing some Vice location hunting and photography in the area that day when our attention was brought to it. Very sad. This was also the location of another significant filming. This was Wil Smith's home in Bad Boys. You can get a good look at it in that movie including the lobby. I will dig out some pictures I took for that movie as time allows.

I will dig out some pictures I took for that movie as time allows. It burned at least twice. In 1987 it was torched by someone and in November 2007 it got fire again and this time it looked like it was under construction before that (there is a Youtube video about the fire rescue on that day filmed by a neighbor). (LA) The church in the opening credits of “Down For The Count” (part 2) is actually in the Westwood area of Los Angeles. The name of the church is the Westwood Hills Christian Church and is located at 10808 Le Conte Avenue. Obviously standard stock footage at this time (1986/87) but interestingly it’s on the same block as the Westwood Towers building (with the skyline stock footage shot from “Shadow in the Dark”). I stumbled upon it whilst staying in this area for a long period. been checking churches in and around LA but his one eluded me. Kudos! Tom
If some of you have 15m USD you can buy Guzman´s villa at 1415 N. View Drive (also belonged to Silva in Junk LOve and Cruz in Gid´s work and was first visible in Home Invaders). And for that price you get the kitchen, and if you´re lucky Don King in it as well...

Tom
A few nice old and rare pics from the Town and Country Mall in Kendall back in 1987-89. The mall was heavily damaged in 92 during Hurricane Andrew and demolished in 2002.
Tom
Very interesting picture with boxer Roberto Duran (guest star in Payback) and story about the Bravo Gym. It was a mechanic store and a carpet store before. And also allegedly in Rocky 3.
Mr. Vigilante
That's interesting. I always assumed the gym in Rocky 3 was in Los Angeles.

I know this film and I have just found another new location filmed inside the mall in Rock and a hard place, in a club that was located on the second floor there. Tom
Miami Ave bridge looking north now and then (October 1986). The Bank of America tower is the same (built in 1985/86), all other highrises are new. P.S. bridge was doubled to 4 lanes (2 each direction) in early 1986 together with diagonal South Miami Ave extension Zito´s house was razed for. Before the bridge was 2 lanes only. Tom
Two rare interior pics from the Perez Bravo Gym and the respective comparison shots from the episode. Edited November 15, 2022 by Tom
Tom
Thanks to Bing´s archived history of aerials back to January 2006 (many MV landmarks like this and the church in Child´s play were exactly razed in 2007 and Google streetview starts very blurry in 2008) we have now also - for the first time - photo proof of the Perez Bravo gym. See below and comparison to the episode (the building left of it had been razed earlier than 2006, the white building on the right of its entrance is the Allapattah Library that was seen in the episode and still stands today). I am happy that we finally have photo evidence we can preserve. Edited May 16, 2023 by Tom
