airtommy
I was in Miami for a few days last summer. I made some new friends while I was there: Edited August 16, 2018 by airtommy
airtommy
My mom called me while I was there and asked me how Miami is. I said, "It's great! Today I saw a tree and a door, and tomorrow I'll be visiting a vacant lot!" She didn't understand my excitement. The tree that we see in the funeral at the end of Son's and Lovers, almost exactly the same today as 30 years ago: This is Coast Guard Hanger seen in Milk Run, Down For The Count, and Redemption in Blood. When I got home I realized I had photographed the wrong door! The vacant lot where many scenes were filmed, including Izzy & Noogie swiping the cement mixer in Made For Each Other. Hurry and visit because this historic vacant lot will soon be replaced by a boring condominium. Edited August 16, 2018 by airtommy
airtommy
Archie's house in The Good Collar is condemned: Gina's apartment complex is being renovated: Many of the night-time street scenes with hookers and dealers were filmed on Collins Ave and in the background you would see Gino's Garden Italian Restaurant and the Greystone Hotel. Gino's was where you see Baoli in my photo: 5

airtommy
I had a real life Miami Vice-ish encounter. I was in the alleyway where Freefall begins (C&T doing surveillance, Jonny Ramon walks out a door and drives off, C&T give chase) and there were a bunch of impressive dudes with automatic weapons and other gear. It turned out they were DEA agents doing some training exercises. I told one of them this was where Miami Vice's final episode begins. He was polite enough not to ask me why I cared. I accidentally caught one of them in a photo. I covered up the face and the license plate just in case.
airtommy
In Down For The Count during the big car chase the Testarossa comes to a stop right before they play chicken. Here is that building with the round holes today. This is the perfect representation of old Miami getting devoured by new Miami: 1
summer84
Thank you for sharing these pics from your trip! Really great and interesting sights! I don't know if that's the case there, but I hope they don't change the original design/appearance to Gina's apartment complex. Sorry to see Archie's house in that condition...
