ame99
HI All, I am a big fun of MV and will be in Miami next April for the first time in my life. From friends who went to Miami recently I heard the city and people have changed a lot since the 80s so it's not that easy to live today the style of the series. I was wondering if you can suggest things to do and places to visit to enjoy that Miami of Sonny & Rico. Thanks
jpaul1
you can't do the whole series locations in one trip. so pick your favorite episodes, and make yourself a planning. i highly recommend the android app MapWithMe. it allows to load maps offline, and use your smartphone as a GPS even if you don't have any local provider. i made a 3000 km roadtrip last september, and that app is just incredible
Dadrian
Welcome to the site, @ame99! If you are familiar with the episode titles of the scenes in which your favorite locations appeared, this is a great reference, to say the least: http://www.miamivicelocations.org/ I recommend taking a couple of hours before you go, and look through each episode on that site exhaustively. You may find a location you didn’t know you wanted to visit.

ame99
@Dadrian thanks for the website! Besides the actual filming locations, does anyone know if there are still any bars, restaurants, hotels, etc,. where you can still feel the MV ambiance and enjoy the style of the 80s or that has gone away forever from the entire city which from what I heard has gradually adapted to meet the newly rich standards? Hopefully it makes sense...

Hopefully it makes sense... I don't know if you can get that ambiance and style anywhere today. Miami Vice and 1980s style means different things to different people. I've compiled the actual filming locations you can visit to eat and drink: http://miamiviceonline.com/index.php?/topic/12738-miami-restaurants-bars/
miamijimf
Lots of places are still open but for an immediate Vice feel I suggest Mac's Club Deuce - 222 14th St. Miami Beach - http://www.macsclubdeuce.com/ - legendary dive bar seen in "Hard Knocks" and "Freefall" Basically unchanged and I'm sure they still have the original Vice neon decorations. They will talk Vice with you.
