Tommy Vercetti
I'm absolutely distraught by this news. Peter Fonda has died at the age of 79 from the f*cking Big C. This is truly terrible. It's so sad having to break the news of the passing of these legendary actors. He was a legend and part of a Hollywood aristocracy. An icon of film and he did so much great work. Easy Rider of course but other faves of mine are: Dirty Mary Crazy Larry (1974) Fantastic film and the second best car chase movie of the '70s, after Vanishing Point. Pete is great in the lead and the film is chockful of great car chases and stunts and some great wheels in the Dodge Charger. I love this film. Race With The Devil (1975) Another fantastic film. A creepy survivalist horror-thriller of the Deliverance / Texas Chainsaw Massacre variety. Also stars the great Warren Oates. Fantastic, epic chase sequence in this that have to have influenced The Road Warrior. I love this film too. 92 In The Shade (1975) A very good adaptation of a Thomas McGuane novel set and filmed in Key West which also features a great cast including Warren Oates, Harry Dean Stanton and Joe Spinell. I recommend this film too. The Hired Hand (1971) Peter's directorial debut which he also starred in along with Warren Oates once again is a good and solid film beautifully photographed by the great Vilmos Zsigmond and has a good script. The Limey (1999) He had a great role as a dodgy record producer that Terence Stamp was gunning for in Steven Soderbergh's excellent Neo Noir. Particularly cool to see him share scenes with Barry Newman of Vanishing Point. He and Pete were the two road kings of the '70s. He also had a big impact in video games as he provided the voice of The Truth in GTA: San An. I'll pay tribute with some Easy Rider scenes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1cDECkN2xg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAjWYFBSFNs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsFOKNQxIhQ It's a sad day for lovers of cult film. Rest in peace to a legend, an icon and a great man. You will be missed. 1
