pahonu
I just finished watching Sparkle on Turner Classic Movies. It’s broadcasting several films for Black History Month. I also earlier watched Woody Strode in Sergeant Rutledge and Paul Winfield and Cecily Tyson in Sounder. Sparkle has a great cast, including Irene Cara, Lonette McKee, Dorian Harewood, and our very own Phillip Michael Thomas! The script was by Joel Schumacher. While it was not up to the standard for the two I mentioned previously, it is well worth a watch! I’m excited to rewatch Bird, about Charlie Parker, coming up next, and Lady Sings the Blues, with the great Miss Diana Ross. Edit: Forgot to mention the great Curtis Mayfield did the score!!!
