Sadly, it is no longer possible to get a perfect re-creation of that original shot. They are renovating these condos. One change is to remove the old balcony railing and replacing it with a clear wall. This will change the look of the building quite a bit. In my pic below, at the far left is the old railing and on the far right is the new railing. I see they are bringing the North Tower inline with the South Tower which they were working on last year. Great photo - looks a bit grey?

After the Turnberry Isle North Condo set up shot the rest of the Teaser is shot at The Key Biscayne Hotel (see pictures below to see the same area we saw in “Out Where the Buses Dont Run”) 3. The beginning of the car tail scene ( Crockett and Tubbs tailing dirty cops) was shot at entrance/ forecourt of The Key Biscayne Hotel. 4. The interior where Candy was working was also the Key Biscayne Hotel. Seen as part of the Ocean Club in “OWTBDR”. This was a great discovery. The door, wall-mounted lanterns, gold railing, and pavers/tiles all match up. Matt5
Good post airtommy- I spent some time last year at Turnberry Isle and couldn’t match up the teaser at all to the North or South Tower it was then by chance I noticed the scene later in “OWTBDR” - often we stumble over these things right in front of us. It was really cool they used the Ocean Club in Key Biscayne for the scenes in “GT”. Edited April 8, 2020 by Matt5

miamijimf
Found this old postcard. It's from Horton Nehleber. Wong's Chinese Restaurant, 12420 Biscayne Blvd, N. Miami. Castillo & Tubbs are seen going into this restaurant and then leaving it. It's now closed. Edited June 14, 2020 by miamijimf
Tom
EXACT APARTMENT FOUND: DALE MENTON´S (AND JOE DAN´S PLACE IN INDIAN WARS, allegedly in Boca) 520 Brickell Key Drive, Brickell One Building, Apartment 1207 @Dadrian found this matching between both episodes some time ago,, so the location is not new, but the apartment is. I was never aware that we see the apartment number in this episode to identify the exact apartment (I haven´t seen Golden Triangle for quite some time). The number is clearly visible and on the side wall, not on the door itself. Funny enough, this exact apartment is on the market, https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/520-Brickell-Key-Dr-Apt-A1207_Miami_FL_33131_M69228-62445#photo0 but "completely remodeled" (I don´t get why they are proud of that, because it looks like a boring garden variety apartment now and was so cool back in 1984 and 1987). Such a shame that this landmark is gone, but we know now exactly where it was!

I am sure they decreased apartment sizes when they „remodeled“ to maximize revenue or simply to adapt to new target group. The Brickell One condo building looks very run down now, way less exclusive than it looked in MV days and would not attract wealthy tenants for such big sizes anymore (although I don’t think that the MV apartment was that big as it looked-the used a lot of interior mirrors smartly to make it appear bigger. But it was certainly more than 1100 ft/120m2).
Matt5
Whilst watching “Golden Triangle” Pts 1 & 2 - we see this exterior establishing shot showing Dale Menton’s condo at the end of Part 2. Not the Brickell Key Condo but wasn’t sure if anyone had found or discussed this - looks like LA.
Tom
LAST UNKNOWN LOCATION: the airfield at the end Given the small planes, the absence of any bigger planes and terminals/hangars and the size of the tarmac I thought it would be easy to find this small airfield (no big commercial airport), as there are not that many. But no luck. In the episode we see the following clues: very big tarmac but no big aircrafts or other typical big airport faclities visible (I doubt anyway that they were allowed to film at MIA...) long building behind the Caddy (assumed direction from where they arrived with the car) hangar behind Castillo, the pattern on the door looks like small airport no typical airport marks on the tarmac lots of small planes visible, but nothing else I checked all suspects (North Perry airport where they filmed in Trust fund pirates, Opa Locka, Miami Executive at SW128 Street and Lauderdale Executive but did not find any spot that potentially fits, even historic aerials. Maybe some of you have more luck....

Tom
MAY YINGS house 730 Harbor drive as it looks now. Lots of renovation has been done since then inside and outside and most of the "Chinese" look of the front that we see in this episode is gone, but it is still recognizable. The round pool is seen in the episode in the background a couple of times.
airtommy
Near the end of Part 2 they visit Dale Menton and we see this setup shot: Surprisingly, this is not in Los Angeles. It's the Jackson Medical Towers in Miami at 1500 NW 12th Ave. Google Street View link Just turn around at that intersection and you'll see the "Biscayne General Hospital" from "Cool Runnin" and other episodes. Here is stock footage being filmed. Tom
There is an unknown location: the VICE team discussion during the Fast Forward instrumental piece. There is some evidence that this was filmed inside Fu Manchu Chinese Restaurant at 325 71 Street that was briefly seen as exterior in the first part of Golden Triangle (score). I always wondered why they filmed that scene where Crockett&Tubbs pulled up with the Daytona at Menton´s place in the beginning at 71st and Collins, given there are no other locations in this episode around there (the Ma Kao restaurant, the only other possible restaurant location had some neon on the outside too, but completely different interior, as seen below). Today when going through season 1 episodes for the last unknown locations it flashed me that Fu Manchu might be it. the use of neon lights (was rare in Miami) of the same color (gree) similar wall color (light brown) as seen in the exterior scene behind Crockett and it´s next to the 71/Collins intersection where they filmed I tried to find interior pics of Fu Manchu and the ones I found are not conclusive, because either from the 60s or from a few years ago from the successor restaurant (Fu Manchu closed in 2006 when the owners retired). There is a nice article from 2006 and a remark that DJ, PMT and other celebrities liked to eat there and that is was the best Chinese Restaurant in Miami around 1984. https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/obituaries/article125998679.html Edited July 11, 2021 by Tom
Tom
Unbelievable! I just recognized a strong hint on the unknown airfield location at the end of the episode that I have always overlooked. There is a clear Chinese neon sign in the background, i.e. this must be a restaurant or similar near that airfield/airport. I am struggling to scan and translate these Chinese letters with special software, but no luck so far. Also, a Chinese friend asked told me that it does not look like Chinese, but rather Korean. I checked with google translate by translating the word "restaurant" and have not found any Asian language these letters look similar to, but they look like type of letters I have seen before. If someone knows what language that might be or recognizes what these letters mean, please let me know! @daytona365@airtommy@Dadrian@Matt5 Edited July 11, 2021 by Tom
Tom
I also never noticed that the unknown club where Gina&Trudy find Noogie is the same as the unknown bar in "Made for each other" where Noogie married Annie (comparison shots below, the glass-brick floor, the table around the glassbrick dance floor and the background match, just the table color changed from red to brown). One unknown location in two episodes. First pic is from Golden Triangle, second and third from MFEO.
