The unique Art Deco railing is proof. And I have an interior picture of the exact same courtyard used by Crockett and Tubbs. See below. The Leonard was just diagonal/vis a vis the Corsair (very convenient for filming this episode!) and also used in Buddies and was first remodelled (1990) and then competely razed and replaced by a new building. Old and 1990 remodelled version of building is below as well plus the aerial as of summer 1986. All locations of this ep found. ENJOY! Another awesome find, brother!

Tom
For completeness sake: @C Glidewrote on his website that the scene where Crockett leans on the hooker in the porn shop the second time was filmed at an unknown location whereas the first porn shop scene including Tubbs and Crockett was filmed on a studio set. Close scrutiny of both scenes shows that it is not only a studio set, but the same studio set in both scenes. Evidence below. There is the same blinking light chain and the same blinking anchor with the same writing on the wall. In the second scene it is only very blurry but the blinking, the colors and the sizes match perfectly. This episode is therefoire completely checked off location-wise. Tom
also for completeness sake: the porn theatre establishing shot shows the Venice Theatre at 8912 Venice Bvd, Culver City. It was opened in 1969, operated until 1975 and finally closed in 1977. The building is long gone, today there is a completely new building. Thanks! I knew that I would find an old pic with that unique Art Deco railing somewhere someday. Check out this site - the Hungarian guy who gathered and structured all these 13.000(!) vintage Miami photos did an insane job! https://hu.pinterest.com/avidal9863/_saved/

Tom
another great shot of the Leonard Hotel and its surrounding, taken December 1968 And a sad summary why it was razed and by whom. Leonard Beach Hotel (1925-1993) If FPL takes the bad-taste sweepstakes for knocking down the Ryan Motors building, then Miami Beach developer Thomas Kramer, slayer of the Leonard Beach, takes home the award for hubris. Located at the south end of Ocean Drive, the Leonard Beach was a unique example of what could be done with a 50-by-140-foot lot, the standard in South Beach. But it was never listed as a historic site A no buildings below Sixth Street, in the so-called South Beach Redevelopment Zone, were eligible for historic designation. In 1992 Kramer bought the building (which recently had been remodeled as a quirky, bohemian hotel), undertook his own renovation, and opened a nightclub called Hell, which closed almost immediately. In June 1993, Aristides Millas was leading an international group of architects and town planners on a tour of historic South Beach. As the sightseers -- whom Kramer had flown into town for a much-ballyhooed South Pointe development charrette -- trundled past the Leonard Beach in the trolley the German developer had rented for the occasion, Millas was astonished to observe that a bulldozer was ramming the building. Kramer's excuse: the place was structurally unsound. "It was one of a kind and it's gone," sighs Millas. Despite the fact that the area is the oldest section of Miami Beach, he adds, most of South Pointe's landmarks have disappeared Edited March 10, 2021 by Tom 1

Tom
@miamijimf@Dadrian Interesting comparison of the 86 historic aerial satellite and a 1986 aerial photograph, taken from a crane of the South Pointe Towers construction (another VICE location used in 1987 after its completion), with the Leonard Hotel and the Corsair Hotel used in that episode, both gone.
