Tommy Vercetti
Here's Mann's 1989 TV blueprint for Heat. Of interest to Vicers, most of the actors guest starred on Vice, Tim Truman did the score and it's got Billy Idol's cover of LA Woman. It's good. It's low budget, basically shot, it doesn't have the amazing epic look of Heat and it wastes the talents of Michael Rooker but it's still good, watchable and it keeps your attention all the way through. It has some advantages over Heat. It doesn't drag on for three hours, it's more fast paced and it's not loaded with unnecessary and irrelevant subplots like Heat is.It's interesting to compare it to Heat. Tom
Tim Truman´s final score for Miami Vice is played during the shower scene at the beginning. What a respectless recycling...

Tommy Vercetti
I think LA Takedown and Heat both had their good points. Heat had too much stuff it didn't need, like the backstory on the getaway driver that gets killed. We didn't need that in the film. The ending is too long and drawn out too. Heat might have been better if it was shorter and had the breakneck speed of LA Takedown. I just think it's too long and languid.
