This can’t be the house. In the episode we see also clearly that this house was at the very end of a dead end street with huge distance to other houses and dense vegetation behind the end of the road.

I recently searched again with focus on that detail but no luck. I am convinced the house has either been rebuild or is not on the end of a dead end street anymore with neighboring houses built close to it.

NEW LOCATION FOUND: CROCKETT´S AND CAITLIN´S HOUSE!

As they say: all good things come in threes. That is the third new location in two days that I have found and it took only 5 minutes. If I go on with that kind of speed, I´ll find all missing locations of the series before @C Glide even takes notice of it! :D

To start with: this house is not in Park Lane and not in Coconut Grove! @airtommy @Matt5 despite the chain fence we saw! It is technically in Kendall or according to some realtors in Coral Gables, but not in Pinecrest! Airtommy can rest assured that I can find houses everywhere, not just in Pinecrest area !:p

Second: this house is the same house (exterior and interior!) for Crockett and Caitlin used in "Love at first sight" and "Rock and a Hard place" (we have discussed before that the scene where C&C arrive at the house to buy it was not filmed with RSOD - Sheena Easton was not even contracted at time of filming!  - but with LAFS). I´ll show evidence below to prove that.

Third: the house is still at a dead end, but it is a circled driveway now and vis a vis (behind the chain fence we saw) there is no free space but a neigbour house now)

Fourth: the house is pretty much unchanged but it was repainted to white.

Fifth: the house is in a very bushy neighborhood and close to the first victims in Home Invaders that live also overgrown under heavy green canopy. That was a key clue to find it that fast. I focused on dead end streets with heavy vegetation.

10900 SW 83 Court, Miami (Kendall section)

Proof that it is the same house in all three episodes is below with a series of episode stills. Significant parts are marked in red and will later match with the real house. Please specifically pay attention to the window pane pattern, the two walls in front of the house (both have partially glass tiles laid in). The  higher wall can be seen well in the pictures below, the lower wall starts right in the garden, is curved and is best seen well in the episode when C&C walk towards the house. The stairs that Crockett comes down in early LAFS are close to the main entrance and can be seen at the end of RAAHP through the open door when Caitlin leaves at the end.

Then there is a series of pics and satellites, unfortunately there are no good/sharp exterior/interior pics available (Google street view only covers right part of the driveway that we are not interested in and the tree in the middle is blocking good sight to the house !) and the front is hidden by trees from the satellite view, but I think they are good enough to prove the location. One picture shows the new circled driveway instead of the dead end stop and the new neighbours.

ENJOY!

P.S. Caitlin and Crockett were ripped off by realtor Rita Van Weens! The house was sold in 2010 for 487k USD and Caitlin said in 1987(!) that it was a steal for 875k instead of 1.2m USD due to a Colombian gentlemen with legal problems! I would say C&C did some accidental money laundering by overpaying the Colombian! :)

Amazing work!  Another needle in the haystack found.

I contacted the Mayor of Pinecrest and he said they will be filing papers on Monday to annex this part of Kendall.  :)

Thanks! Don´t hassle the mayor just to prove that I can´t do it beyond Pinecrest. Because I get ambitious then I´ll find the Burnett house by tomorrow and this will be for sure not in Pinecrest :)

@airtommy challenged me, thus I got ambitious and we found the Burnett house today in a team effort - okay, it was after 5 days and not one day later... but it was not in Pinecrest s predicted :p

Unique photos from Villa Ipe (Yakuza house, in this episode, a "garden pavillon" built in 1987) in a relatively new book about its designer Kenneth Treister. We see the narrow designer pools, the room where Castillo and Tanaka met and also the kitchen that was used in this episode and also in "Jack of all trades".

Awesome find!  So, it's Villa Ipe, not Villa Ipa.  The name "Ipe" comes from the Brazilian wood the house is made out of.

Here is a larger version of the photo that can be read without squinting:

https://i2.wp.com/thebigbubblemiami.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/IMG_0157.jpg

I did not know that William Jennings Bryan lived on this property and the church (now a Chabad) was named after him.

These rare interior pics from Villa Ipe look great once magnified and correctly framed. All major scenes filmed in Rising Sun and Jack of all trades were filmed on the spots shown on the pictures.

A great location I particularly enjoyed the part of the estate/ locations we saw in “Whatever Works” and the garden when Castillo met the priest in “God’s Work”.

I took these last year from “Rising Sun of Death”.

I'm going through the entire Miami Vice Wiki and updating location info.  For this episode, this strange location is listed:

Southside Coffee Shop, 1040 S. Miami Ave, Miami (Coffee shop)

https://miamivice.fandom.com/wiki/The_Rising_Sun_of_Death

I'm going to delete it, but does anybody know why this is listed there?  Is it from another episode?  Is it spam?

Also, is the Anchorage Way house called Villa Ipa or Villa Ipe?

The coffee shop location is on the production notes of this episode I own and I used it in my episode guide. This seems to be from a deleted scene. Someone listed this location in the wiki.

The Anchorage way house was called Villa Ipa in the production notes, but the architect Kenneth Treister called it „Ipe“ in his book after the Brazilian wood used.

China Club interior in 1987. That was around the time when they filmed this episode, as the China Club interior started in fall 1987. Before that it was Club Ovo with different intenrior design as seen in Red Tape (January 1987) and Walk-alone (September 1986).

This is the production rundown of this episode filmed from 7 - 16 October in 8 days (one day more than planned). As indicated earlier, Tanaka´s house is wrongfully called Villa "Ipa" on the location list, but right on the daily, but the address is wrong on both. Villa Ipe built by icon Kennth Treister was at 3585 Anchorage Way, not 3715 Main Highway which is the corner property of the Chabad at the intersection Main Highway and Anchorage Way. There are no filmed but cut scenes in this episode. But a location dropped (Southside coffee shop) from the Oct2 list because the whole scene was dropped before filming (could not find out which one, was in prior script version only)

the opening scene with Crockett and Caitlin looking for their new home was filmed with Love at first sight. The opening in the script starts with C&T arriving at Viscaya pier for the floater.

DP Oliver Wood and Stunt Coordinator Paul Nuckles got sick and went home, Danny Kamekona was injured during rehearsal for the sword fight scene. All cameras were damaged by the rain effect (was no real rain).

We know from the production notes that the interior Avery office scene where Yakuza search the office were filmed in studio. Going into details, we can see that they used the same studio set like in Big Thaw, Missing hours and Child´s play. They just added a vault into the corner wall that is missing in the other episodes. See comparison of the window and the glass block window below.

UNKNOWN DRIVING SCENE

We know from the Love at first sight location call sheet that this scene was filmed on 24 November while company moved from the North Bay village location to the studio.

Originally I thought it is impossible to find this snippet. But upon watching the scene I recognized some unique features:

  • C&C drive in a green residential neighborhood with a green median with trees.  This is rare and narrows it down massively.
  • The first house after the JH main title opening has a driveway fom the the left to a house corner facing the street (diagonally located house, very rare too) and the next house with garage parallel to the street is very near the diagonal house.

Mashing this up with possible neighboorhood near the studio I found a possible corner with lots of matches on the house corner, the neighborhouse and the median. SE corner of NE113 Street(NE 8 Ave southbound. See evidence below.
