Whiskey
What's a song(s) that just reeks Miami Vice?I thought I'd make this thread because I've been listening to a lot of Phil Collins and a lot of his music just gives you that Miami Vice-esque nostalgia. I'm looking for more diversity! I found one in particular, Long Long Way To Go, that just reeks Miami Vice.Phil Collins - Long Long Way To Gohttps-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=E86cxhOTfFoThis song creates a vivid mental picture of a lone white Ferrari Testarossa cruising through a Miami that has been consumed by the darkness of the night. Just amazing! What else do you guys got? EDIT: I just found out that this song was actually used on Miami Vice before! Damn I'm good!
widereceiver 88
You got it mang! Old Phil The Shill ( Phil Collins) is one of the best performers and song writers. His music captivates Miami Vice.
Lar
I've said it before, I'll say it again, Don Henley's "The Boys Of Summer" was tailor-made for MV. How they never used it, I'll never understand. Also, "Mama" and "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight", both by Genesis, were very MV-ish songs, but never used (although, believe it or not, Magnum, P.I. did use them towards the end of it's run, when the show was occasionally going for an MV-vibe). Administrators James Posted May 12, 2014 Administrators Report Share Posted May 12, 2014 (edited) Off the top of my head, 'Rhythm of the Night' has a huge tropical feel to it. And Miami is tropical. And it was in Bought and Paid For. There are a tonne of songs that "reek" Miami Vice, I cannot post them all. I'll go through my music and find something for the moody vibe.I've always thought Brian Ferry/Roxy Music - Jealous Guy has a good Vice vibe.Talk Talk - Life's What You Make ItChris DeBurgh - Lady in Red ... Maybe?Chicago - Hard to Say I'm SorryThe Pretenders - Private LifeThe Passions - I'm in love with a German film star The Commodores - Night ShiftBonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart (?)The Cars - Who's Gonna Drive You HomeREM - Everybody HurtsSimple Minds - Alive and KickingSharon O'Neill - Maxine (I posted it in the rare 80s songs thread yesterday) A few songs from Band of the Hand;Shriekback - UnderwaterboysShriekback - Faded Flowers Edited May 12, 2014 by SL1DE
Matt5
The Blasters song "Dark Knight" was showcased in Whatever Works but some of their songs are real bluesy great tracks

Matt5
Some of George Michael's "Faith " songs from that album from 1987 reek MV as well as Nik Kershaw's "Wouldnt it be good" from 1984.
Ingrid Indigo
Genesis - Invisible TouchThe Cars- -Heartbeat CityGlenn Frey - The Heat Is OnPhil Collins - One More Night (and many more) These songs came to my mind at first. And, of course, Talk Talk - Life's What You Make It, which reminds me of one Hammer's MV score.
ArtieRollins
I fell in love with the music of Talk Talk and Miami Vice much thanks to GTA: Vice City back in autumn 2002 and I have always thought Mark Hollis and Talk Talk made some really beautiful and haunting songs in their earlier days that could easily fit right into the world of Miami Vice. Love the hypnotic and dreamy synth, Paul Webb's fat and groovy bass and of course Mark's beautiful and calm voice.Talk Talk - Tomorrow Started (1984) Tak Talk - Renee (1984) Other songs that just oozes of Miami Vice atmosphere: Edited June 20, 2014 by ArtieRollins

Jerry B.
I would add: Foster's "Who's Gonna Hold You Tonight" (with superb bv/fills by Richard Page) and, I repeat again "Boys Of Summer" from Don Henley. PS But for me the "vicest" song ever is Red 7's "Heartbeat", actually used in the show, as wel as in Mann's Manhunter (which has sooo many fans among this community members ;-)

ArtieRollins
Out of all the great music Tears For Fears ever made, this one has always had that special 80s Vice feeling, well at least in my ears that is. The Stranglers abandoned the punk movement and went on to make some good pop/rock albums in the 80s and Skin Deep are one that I could see fit in the beginning of an Miami Vice episode. ArtieRollins
Not sure if Bob and the Wilbury boys where fans of Miami Vice but I think this song has a very similar story/vibe to Glenn Frey's - Smuggler's Blues. I know ZZ Top already have 3-4 songs that made it to Miami Vice but if there is one that should but didn't make it, it is Thug.Love that slapping bass and chilling synth.
