She does, she loves Sonny so much but he isn't understanding. 

I guess that's the restaurant scene with the lawyer when they're discussing the divorce. Hit List, I think. 

We never really got to know them when they were happy, or see the events that actually tore them apart, but I remember how sad I was as I watched them go through their divorce. They still really loved each other. (Poor Gina! She was right about that one!) 

No matter how many women Sonny fell for throughout the series, he still carried the torch for Caroline. He even said it to Rico in the last season's "To Have and To Hold". 

"I just can't keep from thinkin'. That's the one that got away."
