I love the way Marty walks in out of nowhere, like he had sensed something important was going to happen. 

Little moments like that is what made this show unique and different from anything else.

Exactly! All the little details in this 10 second scene are the kinds of things that made MV like no other show at the time. It was like cinema on TV!

And it was important to the development of the story to have Sonny realize in front of his entire squad that his friend may be involved.
