Wild At Heart is one of David Lynch's weaker films. I thought it was terrible.Plotless, tedious, pretentious. It seemed more like a Tarantino film than a David Lynch film. It didn't have any of the deep themes of Blue Velvet, Eraserhead and The Elephant Man.But then I thought Eraserhead was a mind numbing pretentious bore too.

You know,to me a film is less a deep experience and rather than a collaboration of visuals and music,at first,Wild at Heart left me clueless about it being from David Lynch,I have grown to like it for certain things,to me Blue Velvet was a film not for deep thinking but visually,it's great, the film felt at home because I love small towns,it was like places in my area, the story on Blue Velvet is actually simple,at least to me it was.Wild at Heart was visually ugly, but that's what gave it a unique edge, the town of New Orleans presented terrifically, those night driving sequences are great, such as where Sailor admits to Lula his past, while the song "Wicked Game" plays,I watched this with the lights out,it's a haunting scene, especially staring out into the night, thew scene in Big Tuna where they sit talking to locals is definitely an amazing spectacle, from the cowboy and well dressed man with sunglasses watching them to OO Spools story followed by a man with a moustache setting off a sparkler,to Bobby Peru, one of my favorite Willem Dafoe performances, even better than the green goblin! As far as Eraserhead, looks depressing,Elephant Man is too soft,Blue Velvet is too close to home in ways I won't admit!Blue Velvet is by far my second favorite film, right after Lost Highway, which blew me away!Wild at Heart may have crap acting(except for Willem Dafoe and Harry Dean Stanton, who never has gave off a sucky performance)and the last twenty minutes sucked so bad,I just take the tape out after the failde robbery, the good witch scene made me want to barf,I like the film and it's soundtrack, despite the stereotype southerners(my family on my mom's side is VERY southern.)And Nick Cage's and Laura Dern sorry, stupified performances.

I love Fritz Lang's work. The man was a genius. 1927's Metropolis has been one of my favorite films for years, and 1931's M is up there too. Two movies that have aged amazingly well.
