Strange.
Mvice8489
yeah, it has been listed on EBAY quite a few times. Never seems to get bid much above $31K. The seller wants $35K.
Dadrian
Not quite a replica, but could this South Florida car be the one we get a glimpse of in the pilot? I can’t remember if it had tan interior or black: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F372564248988

The seats are the incorrect color, the rear view attachment doesn't look right and that red interior looks, well bad. Plus if this was his car, I believe the seller would have it front and center that this car was in the pilot of Miami Vice.

Mvice8489
that is 100% NOT the car used in the pilot. Very nice to finally see this thread active again, though!
Stinger390X
Looks close because it looks original with the "breeze's" on the doors. C3 Vettes have a solid roll-up window and actual real Daytonas had the triangle breeze's. I certainly don't have half a mil.......... Doesn't matter anyway. In Dec I was seriously looking at a Daytona but after getting a flyer at the Border Services office my heart sank. You would not believe the absolute bull$hit you have to go through to bring a car into Canada. Thanks trump.................!@#$%^&*() I thought I jumped through hoops to bring my boat home a decade ago, and I used a brokerage firm to handle the paperwork. 1

Cfazio
I found a car in California, but I’m just so hesitant cause I need to go and look at at, I’m wanting to stay around 25k. I’m wanting it to be black and make it like vice. Instead not so like vice but tan . But outside I want black and the look. My thing is the headlight cover are shutters I want the plexi look. I kinda stumped on what to do, any thought

Mvice8489
You do NOT want that car! Believe me, I know. I spoke to the owner a couple of years ago. That car has been for sale forever. It’s in really rough shape. The owner comes across as a pretty nice guy on the phone but the more he talked the more I learned just how bad of shape the car was in. I keep a file on every Daytona that I’ve ever researched ( and I have literally researched every one that has hit the market in the past five years, obsessively :)). Unfortunately those files are at my office and I am at home right now. But from memory here is what I recall : I had originally called him because I really love those wheels and I like the look of the Daytona striped seats with the holes in the stripes (Most Daytona replicas do not have the holes in the stripes. Real Daytonas do have the holes in the stripes ). The big problem on that car is that he had it substantially lowered. The stance absolutely looks fantastic. Unfortunately, since the car is made of fiberglass, the rear quarter panel was cracked when the tire hit the top of the wheel well when it was driving down the road. Once that fiberglass is cracked the whole Car becomes a potential mess. I know, I own a black 1972 Corvette convertible. I am very familiar with fiberglass issues. You can see the picture of the owner taking a snapshot of the rear passenger side quarter panel. Right above the wheel well it is all cracked. That is a major major problem. Look at how close the top of that tire is under the wheel well. Every time you are going down the road and hit a bump that will crack the fiberglass even more!! Obviously the top is complete junk and would need to be replaced. I’m not sure how much it cost but I can’t imagine it would be less than three or $4000 . The dash on that car isn’t very great either. Bottom line, this car would need no less than 15 or $20,000 worth of work. That is about what I had estimated. I’m guessing there is a bunch of paint work that needs to be done on the car as well. By the way, he says he wants 30? There is an ad on Hemmings right now where he has the price down to 27.5. And it’s been at that price for a long time. In my opinion this car is not worth a dollar more than 15 grand.

Cfazio
Oh wow, thanks. I was gonna toss those wheels and get daytons. I’m frustrated cause i am wanting a car now, and I kinda feel like I’m never gonna find one
Mvice8489
Those wheels are actually worth big money. They are the best part of this lousy car. Those wheels are actually worth big money. They are the best part of this lousy car. I would actually prefer those two Dayton‘s. Believe me, I totally feel your frustration. I officially started my search August 2013! Miami Vice has always been my passion. I have loved the Ferrari Daytona Spider since the show came out. In January 2014 I bought a triple black ‘72 Corvette convertible with wire wheels. It is not exactly a Daytona but pretty damn close looking. Especially since the spider replicas were made off of Corvettes. (I also have a 2015 Porsche 911 C4 S and a Jaguar super sport ’Portfolio Edition’ that I use as my daily driver) Because of the fact that I have these other cars to use I have the luxury of being very picky when it comes time to finding the perfect Daytona. If you go back and read all of the pages of my ‘looking for a Daytona’ link you can see that I have been pretty specific in what I am looking for. My budget is relatively unlimited and I am willing to pay big money for the “perfect Daytona”. But even with such an unlimited budget I still have not had any luck

Cfazio
I have an extra set of Borrani wheels in my shed. I have an uncle that used to work on Ferrari’s and mine. So I have some parts like lenses and lights and seats. I was never impressed with the testarossa cause how big. But I bought a 348 spider instead. It’s blue.
