Nice pics.  Those tables and huge umbrellas should be banned, they obscure views of the iconic hotels.  Those little sidewalk cafes are also overpriced.

It would be great if the Carlyle didn’t have all that sidewalk crap going on when we get there. It looks way better opened up without all the sidewalk BS obscuring the look of the Carlyle.

Man, pretty much all of Ocean Drive is sidewalk BS 24/7 nowadays. The buildings are there, but all the people and commercialism totally blow the laid back image you have of the MV scenes filmed there—just a heads up. At least the many of the buildings are still there, and many of them look pretty much like they did on the show (except for the sidewalk BS). It’s still a cool scene as long as you don’t mind crowds.

I highly recommend you try this place near all those hotels (but on Collins) for food if you get a chance:

Hahah I saw that! Here it is...

I know this house.  It's on the northeast corner of Hibiscus Island.  The location hunters here studied it because it was a great match with Burnett's house in "Redemption in Blood", but then it was discovered that the house was built many years after Vice.  Were you on Duck Tours, by chance?  A guy who pilots the boat for Duck Tours (nice guy) gave me the same line, "the episode with Bruce Willis".  The "No Exit" house is on the mainland around 93rd Street.

Love your pictures!  Looks like you had a fun Vice experience!

It was the "Island Lady" tour boat out of Bayside and I would LOVE to go find their Facebook page now and tell them so! Pft. Just wrong. >:(

And thanks! I did have a great visit, on my own, for 6 days. I did some American Crime Story searching, too, regarding the Versace murder and Cunanan crime scenes.
I should have been a detective. Love this stuff!

I just noticed from reading the notes that I got from here, that I was right next to Mac's Club Deuce at 222 14th Street! I was trying to rent a bike next door at Trekke. I remarked to myself it looked like a dive bar and kind of scared me. I found a small silver gear on the sidewalk right outside and it's now hanging on my bag.

I think the exterior of Mac's is deceiving.  Haven't been there since Mac passed away but I would bet it's still well maintained and safe inside. Having met the man, I'm sure he arranged for it to be left in responsible hands.

I know someone who always goes to Club Deuce when in Miami and says it is a great time there for putting away a few and playing pool.

Plus the Vice history is still on display with the Neon from one of the episodes, and some documents about the history. From someone posting here:

Ugh. I am kicking myself now. I wish I knew where I was. I saw people heading inside! I had no reason to go in, but if I realized, I would have and taken pictures. :(

I am definitely going when I make my trip there...hopefully this year as I had missed opportunities the past few years. The person I know said it's a great Dive Bar. The actual bartop  looks the same as it was in the closeup scene with Crockett sitting there with his drink, and the neon Vice installed for an episode is also there, along with the vice paperwork shown in that other thread. I'm sad Mac is no longer around because I wanted to meet him.

Have a look at Matt's photos here (Feb 1 2017 post):

I’ll be sure to hit Mac’s when I’m there end of May. I want to see as many Vice things as I can while staying a few days at the Carlyle. I’m not straying away from Ocean drive until we leave. Then it’s a visit Bayside marina & Key Biscayne before we bounce across Rt 41 to SE Florida.

I agree that Ocean Drive is being ruined by the sidewalk cafes and restaurants you can’t get a good look at hardly any of the ground floor of our beloved Ocean Drive hotels featured in our show :hippie:

Also would not recommend eating in one of those sidewalk cafe type places on Ocean.

Was down in Miami briefly this past weekend, didn't get around much but the traffic gets worse and worse..

Me too I wouldn’t recommend eating at those cafes - it’s like a circus down there, drag queens on the street and men with snakes wrapped around them. It’s great first thing at sunrise before they all open however but that’s early.
