summer84
Came across this site FramePool, which has a large amount of original, uncut footage and some unseen short clips of MV scenes, that weren't featured on the show in High Resolution. At the icecream truck explosion. There was an article, I believe stating both director and stuntman ended up in the hospital after this stunt. http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/564613068-sedan-miami-vice-film-misfortune-injured-person " The Fix" at the Hollywood Greyhound track brief clip shot from different angels and with judge Fergeson. http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/507892302-hollywood-greyhound-track-hallandale-beach-dog-racing-dog-leash http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/293423133-hollywood-greyhound-track-hallandale-beach-dog-racing-dog-leash http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/876784995-hollywood-greyhound-track-hallandale-beach-dog-racing-dog-leash http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/113222216-hollywood-greyhound-track-hallandale-beach-dog-racing-dog-leash http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/676512418-hollywood-greyhound-track-hallandale-beach-dog-racing-miami-vice-film http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/173995388-hollywood-greyhound-track-hallandale-beach-dog-racing-miami-vice-film http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/451257140-hollywood-greyhound-track-hallandale-beach-dog-racing-miami-vice-film http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/598845659-hollywood-greyhound-track-hallandale-beach-dog-racing-dog-leash http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/945329856-hollywood-greyhound-track-hallandale-beach-dog-racing-dog-leash Season 3 opening credits http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/463610845-miami-tower-miami-vice-film-administration-building-miami-florida Miami Vice explosions, not all of these clips, I believe are from the show. http://www.framepool.com/en/search/miami vice explosion/?keywords=miami+vice+explosion I don't remember exactly from which episode, but looks like "Give a Little" http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/297548965-miami-vice-film-shop-sign-tail-light-miami-florida Miami meets New York - "The Prodigal Son" http://www.framepool.com/en/search/miami vice new york/?keywords=miami+vice+new+york Miami skyline and the Daytona night scene http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/398480294-headlamp-miami-vice-film-miami-florida-financial-district The opening credits closing scene and possibly from "The Great McCarthy" http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/869864236-miami-vice-film-miami-florida-financial-district-street-lamp "Trust Fund Pirates" http://www.framepool.com/en/shot/808742980-miami-vice-film-adjusting-swimsuit-weekend Edited June 2, 2019 by summer84

Administrators James Posted June 3, 2019 Administrators Report Share Posted June 3, 2019 Wow great find! How on Gods green flat Earth did you find this? I wonder who the person behind these are. Whoever it is seems to have had a camera and 35mm film (to be able to scan it up to 4K), but I don't think this is any of the official cameras, possibly another photographer. Or someone hired to get stock footage for the show/NBC and ended up with all the negatives so they can sell it on that site. Honestly, this is one of the best finds I've seen here in years. Just go on that site and searching for "Miami Vice", there's so much there plus extra stuff we haven't even seen. Looks like they have some stuff from the 2006 movie up there also.

Crockettt
Great find @summer84! When you signed up for a free acount you will be able to download all these footage, but in lower quality with added watermark.

But you can also request access to a "preview copy" which doesn't have watermarks and might be in 4K. I put in a request so we'll see if they accept it. Unlikely considering my account is brand new, but worth a try anyhow. The footage quality looks amazing, and shot in 16:9 ratio. If only the original negatives of Miami Vice were still around, perhaps we could've gotten the whole show in that quality.

Oh but we could, that's why the Blu-rays are best yet, but only the first story was a full remaster showing the potential the rest have. But at this stage, I think we have to accept that (as per all discussion in the thread) we are where we are and are unlikely to get new scans of them all - look at the later Star Trek that have not been done... it's all $$$

bodie
Yes, that looks as good as it reasonably can, the rest are from older masters. These clips we are looking at here on Framepool are clearly fairly decent film scans of stuff not shot by the main unit - they're offering them in 4K on request, but I'd not assume that means they have already scanned them at that res or that they necessarily have the film on hand to do so. Thank you all, you're welcome! Thank you mjcmmv and James! I love sharing this stuff! Haha. It's my specialty. I probably did a lot of searching with different search terms trying to find something similar to the historical Wolfsons Archives video footage. But the search term, where I ended up finding it was "stock footage Miami Vice." Framepool generally also have more collections offline. Thanks again James, I appreciate it. Yes, I also noticed there are some footage from the MV movie. I wish there was more than the 4 pages search results. bodie
If anyone wants all 222 preview clips (so the watermarked versions you see on the site) for their collection, send me a message - 1.16GB in all.

summer84
It would have been a big "Whoops" moment, if that bathing suit had slided further down. And it doesn't look as graceful nor easy getting out of the water in real life.

I do remember this scene but I'm unsure if this actual shot appeared in the episode. I'd be a little surprised if it did. However, Vice had other instances of exposed breasts, meaning an exposed nipple, in episodes like Junk Love and Bought and Paid For. So who knows? Funny how they are all S2 episodes. summer84
Around 22 sec. were cut/edited from the original footage. The part where she is in the water. And the finished product had a blurred effect added in. Edited June 3, 2019 by summer84

I honestly don't even think Brothers Keeper was a full remaster, it doesn't look like it to me. They got the old edits and corrected the colours because quality looks the same as the rest of the series. If it was from the original negatives it would look a lot better like that stock footage or even the Apocalypse Now Final Cut trailer which looks like it could've been filmed today. And probably would've been proper 16:9, not zoomed 16:9.

And probably would've been proper 16:9, not zoomed 16:9. On the 16:9 I think that may have been a temptation (as it was with The X-Files) and I think that is reason to treasure the Blu-rays we do have, as they are in the original intended television ratio. You can see from this footage there may well be more to give at the edges, but as per X-Files it's at the expense of information top and bottom of frame and crucially going out that wide revealed crew, lights and edges of set on The X-Files. Here obviously it's more water, so no harm done, but you can well imagine if it's a dialogue scene there could be a guy holding a mic boom who would newly be in shot. It's not something I think we'll ever see and I don't think it's something we necessarily want. The stock footage is the red rectangle, you can see how it's wider but also shorter than the green original;
