Tom
For those who haven´t seen it in the DVD thread already; A German label, Koch Media, will release an unbelievable MV Blu Ray box set on 1st October with all uncut episodes including English and German language and subtitles. The unique thing here is that they encoded the US Universal master competely new and got rid of the wrong gamma shift on the US box sets and did lots of manual corrections, even corrected dropped frames of the Universal original (e.g. the cemetery limo scene in El Viejo where some frames are missing). The video quality is unbelievable and much better (contrast, darkness, colors) than any other release before. Some comparisons are posted in the DVD section. They also put lots of efforts into professional art work and bonus material and an episode guide. The box unwrapping video is down below. The box can be bought on 1st October onwards exclusively on Koch Media´s new online shop but can be currently shipped only to European destinations. https://bluray-disc.de/blu-ray-news/serien/137433-gesamtedition_der_kultserie_miami_vice_erscheint_exklusiv_im_onlineshop_von_koch_films KochMedia BluRAy MV Ultimate Box.MP4 2
Dadrian
@Tom I’ve been following along about this. Looks amazing! Did I overlook the USD price? also: maybe already mentioned, but will the full original 4:3 aspect image be seen? The Mill Creek blue rays chopped a tiny bit from the top and bottom. Price has not been published yet. Will be a EURO price as they sell to Europe only at the beginning. They chopped nothing on all the episodes I saw up front.
Dadrian
Okay. I’ll probably wait for an international shipper to offer a set on eBay. This is very exciting news. Many thanks to you and anyone else who has contributed to sharing all the info.

Glades
I´ve got the Koch Blu-Ray as well, but unfortunatly I really can´t read anything. Maybe Tom is luckier. Edited November 15, 2020 by Glades

Maybe Tom is luckier. funny that Matt´s pic (seems to be taken from a TV screen) is sharper than the still from the Koch BluRay. I haven´t had the time to look at it myself but from above screencapture it looks like a NW and 39 or 89 to me. But I will try to look at the BluRay myself tomorrow ...

Tom
After watching the BluRay I would say the street sign says NE and 19 or 39 (I am very sure about the NE as both letters are slim as is the first digit) the street has a very long straight stretch followed by a soft left bend. This and the buildings we can see plus the width of the street without any „island“ between directional lanes should match up somewhere with a long broad main road like Biscayne Bvd. I could not find anything fast but will look for it. UPDATE: haven´t found anything on Biscayne Bvd that fits. But the road we see here is clearly two lanes in each direction and very long, thus not many candidates left to match.... Paul Veres
Through some serendipity I got my hands on... and pardon literally my hands in all the images below as they are screenshots from an unboxing video... the famed Koch Media edition! The video itself is 1.5 Gb so I won't try to upload it here, but I think it's good to add hi-res pictures of these treasured materials to the forum. How did this happen? I had a random thought some time ago of why would Koch Media make so few copies and decided I could maybe convince them to just make more given the rapid sellout of the first batch. So I just found an email address online (they are now called Plaion Pictures) and sent that suggestion. Somebody replied to me saying that "the edition is completely sold out and will no longer be available". I don't know if the problem was two English-as-a-second-language people communicating but she clearly misconstrued my message. I replied back clarifying I wasn't asking if they had more of the 2020 batch as I knew they didn't, but rather suggesting they just make another batch. She never replied back Well, to put it bluntly she really kinda lied to me during that communication anyway. A month ago I had a call with @Tom about something else and mentioned my conversation with Plaion. Upon a check - lo and behold Tom found out that Plaion was actually literally selling the second batch as we spoke! Why would she not just tell me that is beyond me but some 180 Euros and shipping across the pond later I finally have the box It is identical to the first batch except for the outer box design, which is now much simpler. I do like the original richer design more, but one thing that annoyed me on that box were some clearly New York City buildings in the Miami skyline, so I'm gonna go ahead and rationalize that the new cleaner design is truer and I actually like it better With that, here are all the visuals from the box, except I didn't flip through every page of the booklet and I didn't uncover backgrounds behind the discs - I'm just afraid to touch them 5

Especially the sharp and vibrant colors of the original 35mm film material that helped to solve half a dozen location mysteries that would have persisted otherwise. A typical example that comes to mind is the video dating service in Love at first sight whose (real) address was on the search warrant Tubbs showed to the owner but the print was so small and blurry on the US DVDs that we could not read it for months. With this set it was a crystal clear instant read off the screen.
