Yes, I posted this last week, as we knew the house owners. @daytona365 contacted them when we found the house two years ago and they not only confirmed that it was used but also sent us recreation photos from inside that were so accurate that we could overlay them with episode screenshots without any deviation! This was one of the most amazing location find stories and it‘s sad that they are selling….
Augusta
Just from a visual or artistic eye, it's no a BAD home, just not nearly as nicely designed as other small homes I've seen on the show. I'm not rich myself, so I don't know----but what I hear from estate investment specialists is that rich and wealthy people always make the mistake of thinking they can afford a pricey home because they easily can plunk down the 30 million dollars house cost. It's the regular taxes on the property that you need to be able to afford---that's the killer. The property fees repeatedly cycling every month are what force most wealthy to sell again in just a few years---they can't survive them. Just one small financial crisis, or an unfortunate expensive illness that saps some of your finances, and you lose your ability to absorb the house taxes. The specialists say SO many rich and famous fall into that misconception Buying the house itself was easy. What's the property fees in Tampa and Miami wealthy areas? Anyone know? The specialists say SO many rich and famous fall into that misconception Buying the house itself was easy. What's the property fees in Tampa and Miami wealthy areas? Anyone know? The REAL (after tax deductions) property tax in Florida is around 1% per year depending on county. The official one is slightly higher. For a 4m property this means 40k per year. Most houses that were on the show are more pricey and have property taxes around 50-100k a year which is a hefty amount under current inflation conditions especially as taxes grow with higher evaluation of property and prices have jumped over recent years. Thus, taxes increase automatically with increasing house values and inflation but incomes do not. PS the house in question here was built in 1987 (land bought for 170k in 1982), used in MV in early 1988 and sold in Nov 1992 for 930.000$ to current owners. Now the house is worth 4m with most of price increase happening in the last 3-4 years when interest was low and everybody went into property. You can do the math yourself to see how much property tax increased in last 5 years alone. And that is hard to afford if you are retired and have no active income left and share prices drop (most retirees in the US rely on shares or have to work additionally to compensate low or missing state pensions). As far as I know the owners of this house are retired already. Edited August 2, 2022 by Tom
RedDragon86
Is this photoshopped because the Black leather seating area is still there after, what 35 years? This living room looks sort of fake. Same curved sofa. Edited August 2, 2022 by RedDragon86

This living room looks sort of fake. Yes, the living room photo looks somewhat photoshopped, especially around the pouffes. As a matter of fact however, the black sofa is still there and so are the red barstools that were there at the time of filming. Even the wall unit has the same layout and glass shelves, however it's been redone in woodgrain, while it was white in the episode. I can ask the son of the owners if the black leather was refurbished or replaced at some point if you want, I have his email. As @Tom mentioned above, the owner family went to great lengths in 2020 to recreate the angles from the episode and I did some overlays with actual episode screenshots. I'm re-posting these images here: Edited August 3, 2022 by daytona365 3
