Still stands out as one of THE best ever.

Was perusing YT when I read the comments on the incredible BUSHIDO ep.  It just amazes me how timeless MV is and how it STILL stands out as one of THE best ever filmed.  When you compare the artistry & realism of BUSHIDO w/ the crap movies of today its dumbfounding how great it was back then.  This was just a TV show anyone w/ a set could watch for free on a Friday night.  I am so glad to have grown up then and watched this.

The episode is set up as a game of chess between Castillo and the KGB officers coming after Gretzky and his family.

The visuals are carefully constructed to reinforce this idea: the tiles on the floor resemble a chessboard and the characters chess pieces.

They grew smaller as the episode moves on, meaning the 'game' becomes more and more complicated *

It's amazing the amount of underlying metaphors that goes into an episode without us noticing, especially in the first 2 seasons.

The way the production team constructed Fergusons courtroom in "The Fix" was the same but I can't remember what it symbolized.
