Castillo Starts a Fashion Trend??

I’ve been watching episodes of CHiPs (1977-1983) lately, and I realized in Season 1’s finale episode “Flashback”, Edward James Olmos guest starred as Ponch’s friend Henry! In one scene EJO is wearing a very 80s style hat...much like the one, one of the punks (Ace) wore in the MV episode “Nobody Lives Forever”.

Now, this CHiPs episode was spring of 1978, so the hat seems a little ahead of its time, to me...but maybe Castillo started the trend? :p Lol...not really, but, found the hat thing kind of cool! :tasse_prost:  Couple photos & captions below:

Frank Military as ‘Ace’ on MV episode “Nobody Lives Forever” (1985). His hat was cool, too...but the owner needed serious hygiene lessons! :p

His fashion statement in Vice is something that will not be easily forgotten.

I swear David Hasselhof got the idea for Baywatch from this scene right here :)

Hey...if you've got the body & can pull it off, 38 or not (although in the show I think his character was said to supposedly be 42 when he joined OCB) go for it, LOL! :funky:

Castillo's Pimp/Zoot Suit Hat was all the rage with the gangbangers and wannabee's in Los Angeles in the late 70's after Godfather 2 was released. If you wore a feather it meant you apparently took a life of a rival gang member.

Cool! Although the hat from Godfather 2 in that photo looks more 40s-60s style (Fedora-?) than the 80s "cool" punk-rocker look. But, maybe it was closer to the same thing. I have the "Godfather" movies, but it's been a while since I went through them. I just don't remember that many hats (like the 80s ones) in older shows, from the 70s and older...unless they were more of the professional/dress hats, like business men used to wear. I just found EJO in that CHiPs episode somewhat interesting, if not humorous, considering how serious he was as Castillo in MV. :p
