For the past 8 months or so I've been a DJ on the Durham University radio station, Purple Radio. Ive done it for a bit of fun and something to put on my CV. My stint as a radio DJ is coming to a close, I'm not going to do it next year as next year is my final year, need to be concentrating on work and such.I have always intended to do a Miami Vice themed radio show but only now have actually got round to doing it.You can listen to the show online, www.purpleradio.co.uk , I'm pretty sure anyone from anywhere can access this site and listen the show and also post comments that are sent to me on the Studio PC's. Anyway my show will be 7pm - 8pm on Thursday GMT (UK time) and if you wanna sit back and chill and listen to Vice music for an hour then please tune in. Dadrian has also given me permission to showcase one of his tracks on the show.If you have any suggestions for anything you'd like on the show then post here and I'll try and get it sorted for Thursday. Aye yes lol, its not professional, just some fun. Think in total i've done 15 shows over the past 8/9 months, only do it during term time. And yeah all the music will be MV stuff; I have a specialist music show which means I don't get forced to play set track listsIf there's any music that vice fans are desperate to have me play then say, got Collins, Gabriel, Russ Ballard and Hammer stuff already on the play list, and bear in mind its only an hour long so...can't fit huge numbers of tracks in lol.

Any decent feedback from the students/listeners? I bet 80's tracks at uni's these days are all the rage? I've definitely noticed a big 80's throwback in all sorts of pop music and even high-street stores have many of the pastels back...

I forgot to request a couple of other tracks for this one (although I know it's too late now!) - would've had Simply Red and Holding Back the Years and possibly also Picture Book.

AH Bollocks, Simply Red would have been a decent addition. I really could've done with a longer show, could've sat there playing Vice music for atleast a couple more hours...Feedback wise, has been very good in the past but more recently people been busy with exams, combined with my difficulty to come up with exciting ideas for my radio show has meant that the shows aren't listened to as much, the Vice one I did the other day was probably my fave show Ive done this term even though not many of my uni mates appreciate the glory of Miami Vice.80's tracks are making a come back, unfortunatly in the form of re-mixes...but there are some who appreciate some 80's stuff...

Billy Idol - Sweet Sixteen is another favourite - great scene - but I see you got some Idol in anyway, great! Also I need to dig out the ep and watch in full where they play Smiths' Last Night I dreamed that somebody loved me - one of my fave tracks of the moment - easily one of the best tracks they ever did although not terribly keen on the intro.I love music when it captures a mood - there are some scenes in Vice where the music makes the scene immortal - those are probably some of the best scenes in MV as a result.By the way, uni days are fantastic - I reckon the best days of my life - if I have any advice for you, don't waste your time - explore, enjoy - you're unlikely to ever have that much time on your hands again and when you settle into full-time work you'll always regret not having done more in your student days if you don't fill them with all you want to do now!Got any silly dreams you wanted to fulfil from when you were a kid, but were too embarrassed to try, or just didn't get round to doing them? Well give them a good bash now and see where it takes you! You will grow older quicker than you realise, and some things become less easy to do with age - God I'm not even 40 yet and there are times when my body complains about trying to get it to do things I should've tried 10 or 20 years ago!!Good on you for doing the show mate!

lol cheers for the advice RID, im trying to make the most of them. Just finished my second year so, tough one ahead i think, can't believe how quickly its gone.Radio show - been having some issues; the radio logs aren't working still, i have a seperate recording of the show, tried putting it on youtube but got censored cos of a music claim (**** lol) so deleted them. Only thing I can think of is sending you an email but it would take about 10/15 emails to send it over... i shall continue to explore ways of getting it up. In fact im gonna pester the radio station to sort out the logs now lol. Thanks for your continued interest.
