airtommy Posted February 5 Report Share Posted February 5 (edited) The movies "Cannonball Run", "Cannonball", and "The Gumball Rally" were inspired by a real cross-country race called the "Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash". Legendary car magazine writer Brock Yates came up with the idea for the race. The rules were simple: drive across the country as fast as you can.
