Baywatch Nights

In 1995 , whilst "Baywatch" was the No.#1 Worldwide Show with an estimated audience of 1 Billion People!, David Hasselhoff and another Co-Executive Producer spun-off the show and created "Baywatch Nights" based around Mitch Buchanan running a Private Detective Agency in Malibu, Ca.The original premise and idea was the show , according to the Hoff, a mix of "Miami Vice " and "Baywatch". Ive been watching it lately and some of the early episodes do have a light fluffy Baywatch feel predominately with a hint of MV(Hoff Cream Suit/tshirt, lots of neon and glass bricks, music stars as guest actors and sports cars) . Although its much more Baywatch with the poor dialogue and stories. It only lasted 2 seasons but i notice Maurice Hurley ( a writer on MV in Season 1 with Joel Surnow) was a Creative Consultant on the show along with George Geiger ( who was Co-Exec Producer of MV in Season 4 from Episodes 1-7).The first season bombed compared to the Baywatch Success and in the 2nd Season the Hoff and Co changed the shows format to a Science Fiction mystery show ( hoping to cash in on the success of the "X-Files" which was huge in 96). This new format failed miseraby and the show was cancelled in 1997 - although Baywatch continued to run till 2000( original run 1990-2000).:D

Yes,:o, indeed, it was a terrible idea on the part of The Hoff and the Producers - I wont watch Season 2 , no way!!.Somehow The Hoff and Science Fiction is not right.!
