Ted Nugent deserves his own news thread. Two articles/interviews with him I've liked:Nugent: Gun-free zones are recipe for disasterPOSTED: 9:51 p.m. EDT, April 20, 2007 By Ted NugentSpecial to CNNEditor's note: Rock guitarist Ted Nugent has sold more than 30 million albums. He's also a gun rights activist and serves on the board of directors of the National Rifle Association. His program, "Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild," can be seen on the Outdoor Channel.Read an opposing take on gun control from journalist Tom Plate: Let's lay down our right to bear armsWACO, Texas (CNN) -- Zero tolerance, huh? Gun-free zones, huh? Try this on for size: Columbine gun-free zone, New York City pizza shop gun-free zone, Luby's Cafeteria gun-free zone, Amish school in Pennsylvania gun-free zone and now Virginia Tech gun-free zone.Anybody see what the evil Brady Campaign and other anti-gun cults have created? I personally have zero tolerance for evil and denial. And America had best wake up real fast that the brain-dead celebration of unarmed helplessness will get you killed every time, and I've about had enough of it.Nearly a decade ago, a Springfield, Oregon, high schooler, a hunter familiar with firearms, was able to bring an unfolding rampage to an abrupt end when he identified a gunman attempting to reload his .22-caliber rifle, made the tactical decision to make a move and tackled the shooter.A few years back, an assistant principal at Pearl High School in Mississippi, which was a gun-free zone, retrieved his legally owned Colt .45 from his car and stopped a Columbine wannabe from continuing his massacre at another school after he had killed two and wounded more at Pearl. At an eighth-grade school dance in Pennsylvania, a boy fatally shot a teacher and wounded two students before the owner of the dance hall brought the killing to a halt with his own gun.More recently, just a few miles up the road from Virginia Tech, two law school students ran to fetch their legally owned firearm to stop a madman from slaughtering anybody and everybody he pleased. These brave, average, armed citizens neutralized him pronto. My hero, Dr. Suzanne Gratia Hupp, was not allowed by Texas law to carry her handgun into Luby's Cafeteria that fateful day in 1991, when due to bureaucrat-forced unarmed helplessness she could do nothing to stop satanic George Hennard from killing 23 people and wounding more than 20 others before he shot himself. Hupp was unarmed for no other reason than denial-ridden "feel good" politics. She has since led the charge for concealed weapon upgrade in Texas, where we can now stop evil. Yet, there are still the mindless puppets of the Brady Campaign and other anti-gun organizations insisting on continuing the gun-free zone insanity by which innocents are forced into unarmed helplessness. Shame on them. Shame on America. Shame on the anti-gunners all.No one was foolish enough to debate Ryder truck regulations or ammonia nitrate restrictions or a "cult of agriculture fertilizer" following the unabashed evil of Timothy McVeigh's heinous crime against America on that fateful day in Oklahoma City. No one faulted kitchen utensils or other hardware of choice after Jeffrey Dahmer was caught drugging, mutilating, raping, murdering and cannibalizing his victims. Nobody wanted "steak knife control" as they autopsied the dead nurses in Chicago, Illinois, as Richard Speck went on trial for mass murder.Evil is as evil does, and laws disarming guaranteed victims make evil people very, very happy. Shame on us.Already spineless gun control advocates are squawking like chickens with their tiny-brained heads chopped off, making political hay over this most recent, devastating Virginia Tech massacre, when in fact it is their own forced gun-free zone policy that enabled the unchallenged methodical murder of 32 people.Thirty-two people dead on a U.S. college campus pursuing their American Dream, mowed-down over an extended period of time by a lone, non-American gunman in possession of a firearm on campus in defiance of a zero-tolerance gun ban. Feel better yet? Didn't think so.Who doesn't get this? Who has the audacity to demand unarmed helplessness? Who likes dead good guys?I'll tell you who. People who tramp on the Second Amendment, that's who. People who refuse to accept the self-evident truth that free people have the God-given right to keep and bear arms, to defend themselves and their loved ones. People who are so desperate in their drive to control others, so mindless in their denial that they pretend access to gas causes arson, Ryder trucks and fertilizer cause terrorism, water causes drowning, forks and spoons cause obesity, dialing 911 will somehow save your life, and that their greedy clamoring to "feel good" is more important than admitting that armed citizens are much better equipped to stop evil than unarmed, helpless ones.Pray for the families of victims everywhere, America. Study the methodology of evil. It has a profile, a system, a preferred environment where victims cannot fight back. Embrace the facts, demand upgrade and be certain that your children's school has a better plan than Virginia Tech or Columbine. Eliminate the insanity of gun-free zones, which will never, ever be gun-free zones. They will only be good guy gun-free zones, and that is a recipe for disaster written in blood on the altar of denial. I, for one, refuse to genuflect there.

8/11: Ted Nugent on SB 1070, Sheriff Joe, 'Cat Scratch Fever'by Ed Masley - Jul. 28, 2010 03:49 PMThe Arizona RepublicIn his '70s prime, when songs like "Cat Scratch Fever," "Free-For-All" and "Stranglehold" were tearing it up on the album-rock side of the radio dial, Ted Nugent - or the Motor City Madman, as he's known - would swing from the speakers while wearing a loincloth and Indian headdress. He's been known to ride a buffalo on stage, shoot flaming arrows at Saddam Hussein in effigy and tell a crowd that President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton could suck on one of the machine guns he'd been brandishing on stage before bringing his speech to a close with a holler of "Freedom!"He may have retired the loin cloth, which is probably a good thing. But at 61, the Nuge's in-your-face approach to live performance, life and basic human interaction shows no sign of mellowing with age. And as the most outspoken neocon in rock and roll, that in-your-face approach is much appreciated on the right, where his folk-hero status is stronger than ever. There's a Fox News clip on YouTube of Nugent performing the "Star Spangled Banner," Jimi Hendrix-style, at an Alamo Tea Party while Glenn Beck looks on, clearly loving every minute of it.With dozens of prominent national artists calling for an Arizona boycott in response to the passage of SB 1070, Nugent is the name most often cited as being in favor of the recently enacted immigration law, which states that an officer engaged in a lawful stop, detention or arrest shall, when practicable, ask about a person's legal status when reasonable suspicion exists that the person is in the U.S. illegally. Opponents argue that the law will lead to profiling. Supporters say it won't.In his latest book, "Ted White and Blue: The Nugent Manifesto," the guitarist writes, "The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) should build huge jail tent cities like my hero, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, has done in Maricopa County, Arizona, for various criminal scum and such. Sheriff Arpaio dresses his inmates in pink underwear, does not provide them television, cigarettes, coffee or pornographic magazines and has brought back the chain gang."We caught up with Nugent, who shared his thoughts on "Cat Scratch Fever," Paul McCartney,Arpaio, Maoists in the White House and SB 1070. He's scheduled to rock the Celebrity Theatre on Aug. 11.Question: First of all, Ted, I'm a huge fan of your music, always have been. "Cat Scratch Fever," "Free-For-All" and "Stranglehold" all sound as fresh today as ever. Why do you think they've held up so well?Answer: Thank you. Everything about those recordings - from my impulse to create/unleash the songs to my incredible band and the entire production team - is all about our united celebration of raw, instinctual primal-scream all-American R&B&R&R soul music. We all focused clearly on the fundamental urgency of our natural, uninhibited love of the songs, the sound, the spirit and the attitude. We were all brought up on Black American soul music and we felt an absolute commitment to represent our love of that music in every detail. Killer music is timeless.Q: The name of your tour is Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead. What appealed to you about that name?A: I was raised to be the absolute best that you can be - that no excuses would be tolerated. Thank God, huh? Being blessed to train with the incredible warriors of the U.S. military (Nugent has trained one-on-one, through the years, with assorted troops, law-enforcement personnel, Navy Seals, U.S. Marshals and more), I am reminded all the time that the trend in America to act like sheep is not only an embarrassment, it is a curse that is destroying the American Way. It is another way of saying lead, follow or get out of my way. My entire family, band, crew and team operate accordingly. It works.Q: I remember seeing you when you first started doing "Kiss My Ass," and it seems as though the concerts started getting more political at that point. Did something in particular inspire you to start becoming more outspoken at concerts about your beliefs?A: Who amongst us is not aware of the Mao Tse-Tung fan club in the White House? What clear-thinking American could possibly not be royally pissed off at a government completely corrupt, deceitful, power-abusing and dangerously out of control? American politics is simply "We the People" demanding logic and accountability from our elected officials. Currently, it ain't happening.Q: How would you describe yourself politically?A: I am driven daily to show my appreciation to the U.S. military hero warriors, who have sacrificed so much for our "We the People" experiment in self-government, to actually participate in it in a sincere, educated, logical and dedicated way. The American DNA is all about defiance and raising hell. I am doing what I can.Q: How did it feel to get your message out there in the books you've written?A: I have wallpapered and carpet-bombed the media like a man possessed for more than 40 years. I go to bed at night a very happy, gratified American knowing damn well I am putting my heart and soul into doing the very best that I can fighting for the desperate upgrade America needs. Like James Brown, I feel good.Q: You're the only national musician of note that I've seen come forward and say you support the Arizona immigration law, SB 1070. What do you like about it?A: Maybe I'm the only national musician whose brain isn't fried on mind-altering chemicals. I like laws that support enforcing existing laws. Call me weird.Q: Do you think there are drawbacks to the law?A: The only drawback is that its clear intent isn't enforced nationwide.Q: I know you've also been an outspoken supporter of Sheriff Joe Arpaio. What do you like about him?A: What's not to like? He has a job description and lives up to it. I salute anybody who defies the soulless political correctness of the status quo. Sheriff Joe is a great American and my hero.Q: Why did you think musicians tend to come down on the liberal side of an issue like SB 1070?A: Why do you think they call it dope? If they aren't currently stoned, they live in a cloud of denial due to their self imposed insulation from discomforting reality. Pathetic, really.Q: When we publish articles about musicians speaking out against things like SB 1070, a common response from the right is that musicians should shut and play guitar and leave the political discourse to the non-musicians of the world. As an outspoken musician, how do you feel about that view of how the Bill of Rights applies to rock musicians?A: Freedom of speech is imperative. It allows everyone to speak out so we know where they stand. I cannot be silenced. My common sense logic resonates with good people everywhere.Q: It seems as though a lot of people, as they age, begin to identify themselves more by political leanings than music. Which would you say matters more to you at this point, politics or music?A: True quality of life is all about balance. My music is more powerful now than ever, which directly reflects my passion for life, and most importantly, my passion for freedom and the American Way. French people don't make music like mine.Q: What's the dumbest political stance you've seen a person take in a rock and roll song?A: Sadly, Lynyrd Skynyrd in "Saturday Night Special" (in which they put forth that a handgun "ain't no good for nothin' but put a man six feet in a hole"). They must have been really stoned that day.Q: Do you find it hard to listen to an artist whose political views you don't agree with? I know there were people saying they were selling all their Beatles records after Paul McCartney made that joke about George W. Bush not knowing what a library is?A: Nah. I love "Saturday Night Special" as a musical piece. Plus, I love all things Stones, Beatles, Paul McCartney, Green Day and assorted hippie music. I tend to focus on the energy, musicality and spirit of the musical performance far more than the lyrics.Q: Whose "Star Spangled Banner" do you think is better, yours or Jimi Hendrix's?A: Mine.Q: What would you say the biggest misconception people have about Ted Nugent is?A: I am not aware of any misconceptions. I think everybody knows I rock harder than any human being ever, have created the top 100 guitar licks of all time, constantly kill many innocent animals and own more guns that the Cuban Army. What's to misconceive?Q: Do you ever worry that you'll overshadow your own music with your outspoken nature?A: I never worry, period.Read more: http://www.azcentral.com/thingstodo/music/articles/2010/07/28/20100728ted-nugent-sb-1070-phoenix.html#ixzz0xB6x9OWe

I have found a little article on Ted in a old Dutch TV guide:Eingefügtes BildTranslation:Typical Miami is the title of the MV ep this evening. The main guest roll is played by Ted Nugent. The (still) longhaired American rockstar plays the part of Charlie Basset, a drug trafficer and in the ep the irreverent husband of Crockett;s girlfriend Callie.Nugent isn't the rockstar anymore whom he was severall years ago when he sold from every record a millions copy's and had concert halls selled out. One song written by him will be used in a upcoming ep "Little miss Dangerous"
