Short biography of Ricardo Tubbs

After the murder of his brother Raphael Ricardo Tubbs, a street cop from the Bronx, followed the murderer Orlando Calderone to Miami. (BROTHER´S KEEPER). There he gets to know Sonny Crockett, who is hunting the same criminal. The initial forced collaboration becomes, however, to true friendship. To escape the punishment for his unauthorized assumption of authority Rico moves to Miami and starts working for Vice. Again and again he experiences bitter setbacks. Angelina, the woman he falls in love with on St. Andrews Island, is Calderone´s daughter. After Calderone´s death she turned away from Tubbs disappointed.(HITLIST)In his job he rarely experiences that the "good guys" win. Too often money and influence determine the winner. He meets his former great love Valerie Gordon in New York, but she is very different to the woman he knew in the past. She doesn´t want to leave New York, while Rico considers Miami as his new home.(PRODIGAL SON)Rico is absolutely happy when Angelina comes back to show him his son. Every man wants to have a son and he had never forgotten Angelina, but Angelina´s half - brother Orlando hates all of them. Rico, because he blames him for his father´s death, his sister because of her love for Rico and the baby because he´s Rico´s child. Orlando kidnaps Angelina and the Baby and wires his sister with a bomb. Rico has to watch helpless as Angelina and the baby die.(SONS AND LOVERS).Laura, managerin of a restaurant and the next woman Rico falls in love with, dies violently before his eyes also. In his rage and grief he feels it doesn´t matter what happens to him. He only wants to catch the murderer. Therefore he volunteers to pose as a prisoner into a prison and almost gets killed.(WALK ALONE)Once he barely escapes from death when he tried to convict Legba, the priest of a Voodoo - Sect.(TALE OF THE GOAT)Another loss ist Larry Zitos death, who died on an overdosis, but is not a junkie.(DOWN FOR THE COUNT)And Orlando Calderone Junior hadn´t forgotten Rico. He tempts him with the supposted win of a journey to a lonely island. There Rico has to fight on his own against Calderone and his men. In this battle of life and death Calderone Junior loses his life, but so does Ricos girlfriend. (THE AFTERNOON PLANE)When his friend Sonny finds and marries his great love singer Caitlin Davies Rico is very pleased.(LIKE A HURRICANE) But he thinks Sonny´s desicion might be too hasty and he tells Sonny about his doubts.Only a few months later he has to witness murderer Frank Hackman, who got his freedom back because of Sonny´s support, shoot Sonny´s pregnant wife.(DELIVER US FROM EVIL)It´s hard for Rico that he can´t do anything for his friend, but Sonny rejects all his offers for help. Then Sonny gets a blow on his head and disappears.(MIRROR IMAGE). Filled with worry Rico tries to find his friend (HOSTILE TAKEOVER/ REDEMPTION IN BLOOD), but when he finally finds him he discovers that this isn´t the Sonny he knows. Nevertheless Rico believes that Sonny is still his best friends and reminds him. But Sonny, who has had a lapse of memory and thinks he´s the gangster Burnett recognizes the cop, but not the friend. Sonny shoots Rico and Rico´s trust in his friend is demaged as a result.More and more he feels empty and burnt out. His inital, boyishly humour can no longer help deal disappointments, disadventages and losses. It´s only a small consolation that Sonny gets back his memory, because Sonny feels the same way as Rico. He´s burnt out, too.When Valerie Gordon comes to Miami to help a friend out of a jam, Rico is encouraged and upbeat. He´s disappointed that Sonny isn´t that pleased about Rico´s happiness.(TOO MUCH, TOO LATE). He believes he´s still in love with her and can imagine their future together. But Valerie lies to him, deceives him and when she rejects his proposal of marriage he knows that this chapter in his life is over.After all this experiences he sees clearly that he doesn´t want to live this way any more. The seemingly endless and hopeless fight has exhausted him. It´s time for him to turn his back on Miami and start a new life.
