Ein ehemaliger Korallensteinbruch und jetzt ein Schwimmbad. Kommt in Touri-Infos kaum vor, da die Einheimischen das Bad gerne für sich allein haben. Sie liegen in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. Dort zu schwimmen ist wirklich ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis. Ich finde, die Venetian Pools gelten zurecht als eines der schönsten öffentlichen Schwimmbäder der Welt.Wenn ihr hin wollt dann unbedingt Bares mitnehmen. No credit cards - only cash. It's where I learned to swim. I haven't been to the Pool in at least 15 years. It looks good on the web site and I hope it's been well maintained but I have my doubts. I'm not sure the current area politicians have the proper respect for historical landmarks. If you have any questions about the place, let me know. Auf jeden Fall hab ich das "Biltmore" gesehen und fotografiert, weil es in einer späten Vice-Episode vorkommt bzw. als Aussenkulisse dient. Würde hier schon am Anpflanzen der Palmen scheitern, da wir hier leider nicht so wirklich das richtige Klima dafür haben. Die Venetian Pools gibt's schon seit Beginn der letzten Jahrhunderts. Dem Gründer und Stadtentwickler von Coral Gables George Merrick sei dank. Früher befand sich an der Stelle der Venetian Pools ein Kalkstein/Steinbruch. Die Überreste wurden geflutet und rausgekommen sind die Venetian Pools. It's a shame that the Pool was never used as a backdrop in Vice. But the Gables was rarely seen in Vice, especially in the first years of Vice. That is a shame because its such a unique and beautiful city right next to Miami and Miami Beach. It's probably because the architecture did not fit with the visual image Michael Mann was striving for- Art Deco and sleezy modern. The Gables, which goes back to the early 1920s was inspired by the architectural style of the Mediterranean, especially Spanish Mediterranean. The city is fanatical about preserving its look. Ya Flagler, the Pool would have fit nicely in a lot of MV episodes. Anytime the script called for attractive women lounging around a pool they could have used the place. I realize in many episodes the pool was in the back of an evil drug lords fancy house. But if Al Capone could visit the place, why not a MV drug lord? Aber ich gebe Sunshine 1705 recht - die Umgebung muss auch dazu passen. Und die haben wir hier in Mitteleuropa nun mal nicht. Das Problem ist, dass man die Anlange nicht das ganze Jahr auslasten kann. Somit müsste man dein Eintrittspreis auch empfindlich nach oben anpassen. Wenn man mal bedenkt, was man hier teilweise an Eintritt in ein gewöhnliches Freibad bezahlen muss. Und das ist dann bei weitem nicht so schön, wie diese Venetian Pools. Es ist echt ein einmaliges Erlebnis, dort zu schwimmen und es sich gut gehen zu lassen. Und das Bad ist auch net so überlaufen wie manches Schwimm-/Freibad bei uns.
