Question about "Duty And Honor"

This episode is also known as "The Savage", I wonder if anyone could tell me where that alternative title comes from?I know that other episodes with alternative titles (e.g. "Calderone's Return (Part I)"/"The Hit List" and "Golden Triangle (Part I)"/"Score") were originally broadcast under different names, and that's where they get their alternative titles. Is it the same case with "Duty And Honor"?

Check out the episodes section of our glossary. A lot of the episodes have alternate titles or what they call "working" titles which are often changed for the final version. I had always known the episode by the title "Duty & Honor". I never heard of "The Savage" until I began browsing Vice websites. Many episodes are also given alternate titles when they reach syndication. The pilot episode was always just "The Pilot" to me. If I remember correctly (and I usually do) USA Network was the 1st channel to offer MV in syndication. All of a sudden the pilot was called "Brother's Keeper" "Score" & "Golden Triangle" were also changed to "Golden Triangle" parts 1&2. "Hit List" & "Calderone's Demise" were broadcast by NBC as continuing but separate episodes. When it came time for reruns they were combined into a 2 hour movie. (The NBC Sunday Night Movie) and renamed "The Return of Calderone"

Thanks, but I'm looking at it right now and I can't see any info on where the alternate title of "The Savage" comes from. It's not even mentioned as a working title, although I suspect the name is more than that as it's mentioned on my copies of the UK DVDs (similar to The Hit List etc., and I know they were originally broadcast under the alternative names).Am I looking in the wrong place? (Namely Glossary > Episode Guide > Season 3 > 060 The Savage / Duty And Honor)

My bad. I should've been more clear. Yes they list the alternate titles but they don't give explanations. I don't think anybody knows why for sure. It could be as simple as the director and the writer not agreeing on the title. And as you said, some members know the episode as "The Savage" and others know it as "Duty & Honor" so it was clearly released under 2 different names. Perhaps depending on the region or even the various networks worldwide that carried Vice?

OK, thanks. I guess I should've been more clear, what I really wanted to know was whether the episode was broadcast at any point under the alternative title. Based on what you've said about some people knowing it by another name, it seems likely that it was. Thanks for the help!
