Administrators timm525 Posted December 28, 2008 Administrators Report Share Posted December 28, 2008 Just saw this movie last night.I though it was a pretty good Bond movie but I do have one complaint. Why is it that the director/producer/whom ever feel that all the action sequences have to be sped up to such a ridiculous point that you can't see what is really happening? Not to mention the camera seems to be zoomed into a narrower field of view during these scenes. The result is the audience ends up seeing a blur of action in a tiny field of view and therefore your eyes and brain can not keep up with what it happening as the camera skips around in hodge podge movements at blinding speed.I for one get totally frustrated when they do this. I know the director/producer/whom ever is trying to create a "dramatic effect" and "add" more to the scene by speeding it up and zooming in so that the audience is supposed to "get wrapped up in the action". But to me, I just get totally frustrated when they do this. I just payed $8.50 to see this film. I wanna see it! Not watch the action sequences in fast forward at such a speed that the whole damn thing ends up being a blur. That to me is the same thing as watch a horror movie that is filmed almost entirely in the dark for two hours as you sit there getting eye strain trying to see what is going on. I for one feel that they should try the "less is more" theory here on the action scenes.I say, slow the scenes down to something reasonable and pan the camera out so the viewers can see what is going on in the scene.Just my opinion here.Rant off!Pretty good film other wise. Guest neworder
Agreed, not just QOS, most modern day action films do it which really pisses me off. For me, the best action scenes ever have to be in Heat, that sets a benchmark that none of these fast paced lots of stuff going on at the same time action scenes can beat. Im playing QOS the game atm and im pissed off and stuck on the 3rd to last mission. Quite angry lol
sredd
Yeah, I think that technique works in some movies (the Bourne films), but it has become a bit overused (like when everyone went crazy with CGI in the early to mid 90's). Go watch "Flash Point" or "Kill Zone", two Hong Kong action films starring Donnie Yen; he also does the choreography. He emphasizes locking down the camera, doing a lot of the editing "in camera" and having a field of view that clearly shows what is happening. At the beginning of the film, things were moving way too fast to accurately understand what was happening in the chase scene. It is almost bad enough to give you a headache. Other than that, I thought it was a great movie.
agent 47
Just about every action movie made past GoldenEye sucks. Casino Royale was good but too modern for my taste. Look at Die Another Day what a mess! James Bond deserves better, Roger Moore must be furious with anger by now. Edited May 4, 2016 by agent 47 Fixed the spelling, the drama queen nonsense of my early years must remain though.
sredd
Roger Moore? What about Sean Connery?
Administrators timm525 Posted December 28, 2008 Author Administrators Report Share Posted December 28, 2008 This is one reason (sped up action sequences and explosions for half the world in the movie) that I actually enjoy the older Bond movies with Connery and Moore. Yes they didn't have as cool a gadgets that the newer ones have now (although the toys they had back then were cutting edge at that time) but there was more emphasis on acting and plot then on sped up chases, fights, shootouts, explosions and special effects. Not to mention Bond only slept with "ONE" girl in this film and she wasn't even the star. Now that is just plain wrong people!:evil:It may sound silly, but Dr. No is one of my favorite Bond films because it had very little of the above. I really hope they get away from this kinda thing in the future. Not likely as it would appear that in each movie they are trying to "out do" the last one and introduce "more" of this kinda thing. sredd
Yeah, the Connery Bonds are some of my favorites.
Tommy Vercetti
I was never a Bond fan myself. The movies just didn't appeal to me.I did however like the sequence at the Fontaineblaeu in Miami Beach in Goldfinger. Thunderball is in Miami too but I haven't seen that. The best reasons for watching a Bond movie
Administrators timm525 Posted December 29, 2008 Author Administrators Report Share Posted December 29, 2008 Well then, my friend, you haven't met "Pussy Galore"!
sredd
Thunderball is in Miami too but I haven't seen that. "Thunderball" was shot primarily in the Bahamas (some filming in Europe). The Navy parachuting scene was shot off of the coast of Miami. Tommy Vercetti
If you want to see more of Eva then watch The Dreamers. You couldn't possibly see any more of her than you do in that :eek:And thanks for the info sredd
agent 47
The Living Daylights is my favorite Bond film although Roger is my overall favorite. Sean always was the best at Bond because he was closest to the book. Craig is alright but it just takes a lot to step into the shoes with the legends before him. Edited May 4, 2016 by agent 47 Embarassing spelling and overly angry leading sentence.
Tommy Vercetti
I think License To Kill was also filmed in Miami
agent 47
I think it was in the keys where the shot Licence To Kill. Oh yeah,The Dreamers was a good movie, hard to catch due the NC-17 rating although IFC shows it a lot. Edited May 4, 2016 by agent 47 Bad spelling and reduced my smarmy attitude I had back then.
