February 11th - 17th:**There was no Season One premiere episode this week**"Florence Italy", the 16th episode of the 2nd season, premiered on NBC on Friday, February 14th, 1986 at 10PM EST. Some notes on this episode (from Miami Vice Wiki):* This episode was originally planned for the first season; it was to be called "The Prize" and was written with Mick Jagger in mind to play the lead role. The script was scrapped (along with some racing footage that had already been filmed), but was revived for Season 2 with Danny Sullivan playing the main character.* The Fat Boys make a cameo appearance at the beginning of the episode, with Buffy (aka The Human Beat Box) being forced to eat a marijuana joint after Tubbs asks him to "make it disappear."* This episode marks the second and final appearance of Annie Golden as Crockett's mechanic, "Tommy." Tommy was originally to be a valuable source of street information, but the character never caught on. * Danny's car in this episode was a Porsche 962-HR1 race car that won the IMSA GT Championship three times from 1985 to 1987. It was sponsored by Lowenbrau beer (Danny can be seen drinking Lowenbrau at the cocktail party).* The race in the parking garage between Danny and Frank features the Kawasaki Ninja, a popular sport bike born in the 80s that still remains popular today.* At the start of the episode, Florence Italy/Abigail Cook can be seen standing on the sidewalk several times after she supposedly got into the car where she is killed. "Theresa", the 16th episode of the 3rd season, premiered on NBC on Friday, February 13th, 1987 at 9PM EST. Some notes on this episode (from Miami Vice Wiki):* Helena Bonham Carter was only 20 years old when this episode was made, far too young to (realistically) be a real doctor. Don Johnson was 37 when this episode was filmed. * There is a good shot of the Pantera stunt car, when Arzola flees Tubbs and Switek, as Crockett attempts to cut him off. You can tell the differences due to different rims, lack of badging, and higher ride height. * When Sonny grabs Wyatt and throws him over the furniture, it's clear that Don Johnson is tussling with Brad Dourif's stunt double. "Vote Of Confidence", the 13th episode of the 4th season, premiered on NBC on Friday, February 12th, 1988 at 9PM EST. Some notes on this episode (from Miami Vice Wiki):* A running theme on Miami Vice is how often Crockett and Tubbs are called into Internal Affairs (IAD) for actions they've taken, but are later exonerated, as they are here. Tubbs even makes reference to this in his line "IAD has a permanent poker with our names stenciled in on it!"* The ongoing "politics affecting police operations" theme continues with this episode. "Miami Squeeze", the 11th episode of the 5th season, premiered on NBC on Friday, February 17th, 1989 at 10PM EST. Some notes on this episode (from Miami Vice Wiki):* This episode is another example of politicians trying to influence police action to protect their campaign. * DAT stands for Digital Audio Tape (a fairly new technology in 1989), designed to be a tape equivalent of a compact disc. Due to congressional regulations and advances in technology, it was rendered obsolete, with the last DAT machine being made in 2005. * Although never explicitly stated in the episode, it is reasonable to assume that Justin Lazard's character "Joey" is the same Joey Hardin he played in "Line Of Fire", now working for the Metro-Dade police after his time in the DEA. His given surname, "Chandler", is likely just a cover name, as it is used in the presence of criminals he is investigating undercover.

Yeah' date=' no kidding! They couldn't have played enough Stones to satisfy me. I know it didn't get the greatest reviews and many listeners hate it, but their 1986 album [i']Dirty Work has several tracks that could have easily fit very well in the show, and it was released in March 1986, so a few tracks at the end of S2 or the start of S3 isn't too hard to imagine (of course, I think the album is severely underrated in general, so take that for what it's worth).

well its kind of funny actually I was watching VH1 when they were doing some sort of interviews with rock bands from the 1980's (think they were celebrating 30 years since the famous judast priest album that featured you've got another thing coming on my birthday so naturally it caught my interest) and they said that in particular with a 80's rock bands that they would do some deliberate over the top music to appease to the masses at the start of the albums to get people to buy them and then put the really great stuff at the end for there true fansand maybe they just refused to follow the same formula in that case?personally I wish I could have seen this used in Vice somehow

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVJkfXeTs9Q

along with the famous gimme shelter, sympathy for the devil and maybe heartbreaker.

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNtPDZtixWw

hell they could have used heartbreaker for the prodigal son, I mean they did use the animals for the start of the glades episode and some old doors songs for the Ira Stone episode of S2 so its not like it would have been out of tone if used properly.after all remember how well Tim Truman's guitar heavy scores worked for S5

Nice pictures!

thanks I think they poped up on either one of coop's threads in the behind the scenes photos and I saved them or it was used on the daytonas of vice thread and I saved them from there.I remember we (jurrasic, Coop and me) were trying to figure out why there was shots of the cars in there S1 garments at the same race track that was used in S2, and then weirdly a shot of the cars during S2 there, the more modern looking photo there that looks like it was taken yesterday. like why would they be there twice, once for S1 and once for the episode for S2? well now we know, they were filming scenes for a scrapped episode that was supposed to feature Mick Jagger!

Never thought of that' date=' but I think they're/you're right. There were plenty of 80's albums that have the big-name, well-known songs as the first two or so tracks, but the [i']really good stuff comes later. Although I think Dirty Work was pretty solid throughout (again, not an opinion shared by many), the first and third tracks were the 'big' singles.

Anything from any era of The Rolling Stones could have worked. I mean, they even used Elvis songs (I'm a huge Elvis fan but even I admit he's not the first name that pops into mind when you say "Miami Vice music"), so MV obviously had a broad musical spectrum. The mood/feel of a scene dictated what was played, regardless of when it came out.

Yup and its kind of funny I actually started noticing that while going through old B52 Albums, along with Devo, there both not really not given the kind of credit they deserve really.hell I doubt anyone outside of devo's serious fanbase knows these two and it sounds like its right up there with whip it, which seems to be the only song they get remembered for

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=-E3Ho8NLtKM

along with Yello sadly with Oh yeah, even though in S3 and S4 vice had used some of there good stuff multiple times for the show, Desire and Si Senior The Harry grill, and yet that's the only song people seem to remember from them, the song used in forest bullerand I do like some elvis songs, A Big Hunk O' Love I remember hearing at a car show once and I think they could have used it for italy along with the hotrod Lincoln song, Mercury Blues by David Lindleyactually could have used that song for the Stalone flick cobra, he was driving a 49 in that onepersonally though I kind of wished they had used frank sinatra's my way for the end of deliver us from evil, now that would have been epic.sad thing is though since the rise in popularity of I tunes and internet sources for music has made it so that people only download one or two songs and thus well I've noticed that alot of artists dont bother putting forth the effort to make a good album anymore they just focus on those two headliner songs, funny thing is though almost in a reaction to that youtube and bbc radio shows such as the craig charles funk and soul show has been the primary way I've been coming across new music that is as good as the old stuff along with a few other people I know ofand I mean new 80's style stuff that sounds like it would be from vices era

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeefGSOES9w

hell one of the guys from the comedy website that guy with the glasses.com does a show focused on finding new and cool acts in the modern landscapehttp://blip.tv/radio-dead-air/the-musical-chair-all-hail-the-internet-6178603http://blip.tv/radio-dead-air/the-musical-chair-desert-island-soundtrack-6462502so its kind of weird, you have sort of a counter culture thing going with youtube and BBC radio vs the current culture of modern music, and with Justin Beiber and Niki manja or whatever her name is I cant blame them in the least, hell cee lo green has only had two good songs in the past 10 years it seems and he's built a career just on the second oneits a good song but Jesus an entire career based on just one song? man that's crazyWith the daytona though, I wonder if maybe filming for that episode that never was for S1 was the catalist to bring in Carl roberts to take care of the cars and maybe that's where the engine damage came from on the surviving car came fromthey got a second car after that as a backup car and that's the one that has bit the dust and is lost, it was taken apart as the base car wasnt exactly the ideal base car you want for a road car.but anyways sometime before carl roberts came on someone blew a valve on the motor from overrevving it and they had to replace the block on the first car, as the block itself doesnt match the car anymore (its from the 81' onwards time period I think camera said) and the engine now features a bunch of performance parts that werent on it when it was stockso maybe that's part of the reason why the episode was scrapped in S1 as well, and why don is in the backup car from S1 there instead of the 81 from the pilot, the windshield trim of the backup car in S1 was chrome while it was black for the car used in the pilot.
