March 18th - 24th:**There was no Season 1 premere episode this week****There was no Season 2 premere episode this week**"By Hooker By Crook", the 20th episode of the 3rd season, premiered on NBC on Friday, March 20th, 1987 at 9PM EST. Some notes on this episode (from Miami Vice Wiki):* The character "Christine Von Marburg" was named for Producer Dick Wolf's then-wife, Christine Marburg, to whom he was married from 1983-2005 and had three children with and whose names he used for characters in his Law & Order franchise.* In this episode, Crockett uses a Commodore Amiga computer when looking up Christine's information, which was a major PC player during the mid 1980s. * There are some creative moments of direction in this episode, including the shot through the peephole of Izzy's apartment to see a distorted Crockett and Tubbs and the light-only on Crockett's eyes as Christine leaves the room to sleep with Togaru.* Many episodes rely on Don Johnson's reaction shots to close the episode and this episode has an extended one, which allows him the opportunity to fully show Crockett's reaction.* It is interesting to note that Tubbs has very few lines in this episode (none at all during the two scenes involving Izzy) and aside from the climactic gunfight, does nothing of any real importance.* This episode originally had a longer sex scene between Crockett and Christine, but NBC deemed the sequence "too hot for television" and ordered it cut back when repeated. The uncut scene runs almost two minutes, while the revised version runs 1:12.* After Christine shoots Togaru, the slide on Crockett's Smith & Wesson changes between shots, from staying back (indicating the gun is empty), to forward (indicating it's still loaded). "Badge Of Dishonor", the 18th episode of the 4th season, premiered on NBC on Friday, March 18th, 1988 at 9PM EST. Some notes on this episode (from Miami Vice Wiki):* The episode's title is a play on the phrase "badge of honor", which is regularly used to refer to the shield carried by police officers in the United States.* Barbra Streisand made an uncredited walkby in the scene where Crockett & Tubbs pull up to Dominguez' yacht the first time. **There was no Season 5 premiere episode this week**

I can't remember, is that unedited scene in "By Hooker By Crook" on the DVD? I was under the impression that it was (along with the intro to "Made For Each Other") one of those MV occurrences that aired once, and then never seen again. Also, "By Hooker By Crook" was, IIRC, the last episode TV Land ever ran. They had dropped MV, and then briefly brought it back, then dropped it again, and then awhile later the ep randomly aired as part of some marathon of shows with a similar theme, though I can't remember what that theme was now. I recorded the airing for posterity, and I still have the tape somewhere, lost in one of the many boxes of tapes in my basement. At least, I'm pretty sure this was the last TV Land ep. If there were any others after it, they escape my memory. Either way, what struck me was that compared to the versions on Sleuth, never mind the DVDs, it was clear TV Land just butchered these shows, something that has only gotten worse in the years since; M*A*S*H is also incredibly chopped up nowadays (being a massive M*A*S*H fan, I do NOT like this), and That 70's Show, which has been relegated to late late night hours, is actually sped-up! Everyone sounds like a chipmunk! I hate That 70's Show, btw, but it's still a slap in the face to that show's fans.Sorry for the mini-TV Land rant/tangent, but man, they treated MV just awful, and at a time when S3, S4 and S5 still had uncertain futures as far as DVD releases go.

I don't believe that extended scene from "By Hooker By Crook" is on the DVD. With regards to "TV Land", it's all about advertising dollars. Ever try watching old programs on "ME-TV", they are sped up to the point the actors are talking so fast that the closed captioning doesn't even keep up. :)

The way they walk (sometimes awkwardly fast) and the speed they talk is sometimes incomprehensible.

Ah, okay. I never really watch that show, so of course I never noticed. I have noticed editing, particularly during M*A*S*H, but in my experience, MeTV is usually pretty good as far as this sort of thing goes. I am going to pay more attention to time-compression from now on, though. I guess this is why we buy DVDs, right?I know I'm getting a bit off-topic, so I'll say thanks for the info, and then move on.

As soon as it's ready, I'll post it. It runs a little less than 2 minutes.
