November 18th - 24th:**There was no Season 1 premiere episode this week**."Bushido", the 8th episode of the 2nd season, premiered on NBC on Friday, November 22nd, 1985 at 10PM EST. Some notes about this episode (from Miami Vice Wiki):* "Bushido" refers to the code of honor of the samurai warrior class in Japan.* This episode is Edward James Olmos' directorial debut.* This story references the then-ongoing Cold War between the (former) Soviet Union and the United States."Baby Blues", the 9th episode of the 3rd season, premiered on NBC on Friday, November 21st, 1986 at 9PM EST. Some notes about this episode (from Miami Vice Wiki):* Philip Michael Thomas' stunt double (Ernest Robinson) was hospitalized after he burned his legs performing the stunt where Tubbs jumps out of Hector's exploding apartment. The footage was left in the episode (if you watch closely, you can see 'Tubbs' catch fire as he exits the bottom right of the screen after crashing through the window). This ended Robinson's stunt career.* The hotel where Angela Mitchell and Eduardo Vasquez were found dead still exists today, though the name has been changed from "The Waldorf Towers" to "The Room Mate Towers.""Like A Hurricane", the 8th episode of the 4th season, premiered on NBC on Friday, November 20th, 1987 at 9PM EST. Some notes about this episode (from Miami Vice Wiki):* Jan Hammer makes a cameo appearance in this episode, playing at Crockett's wedding, the second (and final) time he appears in-person on the show.* This episode was rushed through post-production (only 15 days between the end of filming and airing) to avoid leaks of the episode's content.* The part of Caitlin was originally to be played by Lorraine Bracco (later to be married to Edward James Olmos), but she was forced to withdraw due to an illness. Easton was cast as a replacement.* During Crockett's sendoff at OCB, a boom microphone is visible at the top of the viewing screen.**There was no Season 5 premiere episode this week**.

"Bushido" - I know I said last week that I like any episode with Castillo front and center, and that holds true this week, but I admit I'm not as enamored with this episode as some people are. It's solid, yes, but I'm thinking this one is going to continue to be more of a grower for me. That said, Castillo does kick ass, and the presence of Dean Stockwell and David Rasche is welcome (though it's initially weird to see Dean Stockwell without Scott Bakula somewhere nearby!)."Baby Blues" - Uh oh, time for a Dick Wolf "world" storyline! Actually, of all of the eps that Wolf had a tangible hand in (that is, the plot was clearly his brainchild), I think this is one of the stronger ones. Not a bad episode, and the ending is pretty powerful."Like A Hurricane" - This ep has been the subject of much derision, and that's understandable: Sonny has to protect a singer that he initially hates, they predictably fall in love, and then get married - all in the course of a single episode! It's the fodder for so many "jumped the shark!" comments. It's unbelievable to the max, and clearly they were trying something to get the show's popularity back up. That said, to even my amazement, I don't think this all that bad of an episode. A lot of people tend to hate the Sheena Easton/Caitlin arc, and I agree that it was weird seeing Sonny in that type of situation, but it also provided a nice change of pace, and there were, IMO, some decent storylines associated with the arc (and the Easton run ended with a bang, literally and figuratively). Against all odds, I've always enjoyed this episode. It ain't prime Vice, but it's entertaining enough (though the "I Got You Babe" song seen in this episode and that later takes Caitlin back to the top of the charts is, to me, pretty cringeworthy).

Thanks for posting mvnyc. Never liked Caitlin, but that is just personal preference. Bushido was a good episode, not one of my top favorites, but good locations and story. EJO is convincing as a man of action. The public restroom scene is a classic.

I didn't mind "Bushido", with the exception of David "Sledgehammer" Rasche, he got to be annoying (maybe it's just me)...as for "Baby Blues", I'll pass.."Like a Hurricane", it wasn't all that bad, considering Crockett's track record with women, he seems to jump into things rather quickly, or as he said "I know this one"...

Great episodes interesting about Lorraine Bracco - I also heard Tina Turner was considered. MV sure did kick start Easton's career in 1988 she had a hit album and single . Miles Davis also said that in 1986 he got some major commercials due to being in MV also .:dance2::)
