Sonny-Burnett
Well if most of you are like me, you have to be getting tired of annoying Telemarketing Robocalls, In my case I was getting as many as 4 -6 calls per day on my home line and I have VOIP service that, unfortunately, does not allow selective call blocking.I have found that reporting the telemarketers to the FCC and FTC does nothing to stop these callers. And if you answer or press any buttons during the call then the automated caller will actually put you on an active return call status, and you will get even more calls!Worse...these Scammers share your number with other scammers, so it never ends!So I looked into buying some equipment that can block these calls and some are around $100 but, they have limits on how many numbers they can block. After the limit is reached you are S.O.L. But....recently I stumbled onto a FREE service that does the blocking for my phone. It works as long as your phone provider allows a common feature called simultaneous ringing, where more than one number can be programmed to ring when a call comes in. I have just started this service so I'll keep you posted on results. Anyway here's a link to an article on the service called Nomorobo.com as well as a link to the provider. Again, it's FREE! http://www.longisland.com/news/04-04-13/li-inventor-earns-federal-grant-for-robocall-blocking-innovation.html?print=1&page=1 http://www.nomorobo.com/ Edited January 22, 2014 by Sonny-Burnett
Sonny-Burnett
On Day 3 of this service and it does work. Already had several Robocalls blocked..had to check with my VOIP online Call History to confirm as the calls never even appeared on the phone Caller ID.It really does work, and does not block any "normal" calls, for any who may be interested. Administrators Ferrariman Posted January 27, 2014 Administrators Report Share Posted January 27, 2014 Haven't had this problem but I do have a cheaper solution. If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer it.
Sonny-Burnett
Cheaper than free?? Hmm well it is a growing national problem as you can read here : http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2012/09/17/complaints-about-automated-sales-calls-up-sharply/I know many many people are as frustrated with these clowns as I am when their dinners and even sleep are interrupted. Just trying to do a public service here.
