The Convention Center / Hyatt doesn't fit IMO. It rather looks like a parking garage or something. Who knows if it's Miami at all. Thankyou for your interest @daytona365 I agree it’s not the Convention Centre/ Hyatt Regency - i spent some time on foot looking carefully a few months back and couldn’t match it. I would think it would be Miami though - all the Pilot shots were from the Miami area even some from 1982. This location in the background is still undiscovered isn’t it - I looked for it on the ground on Biscayne Bvld between 36th Streets and to the Omni but alas couldn’t find it. airtommy
New find: Cut #2 of the "In the Air Tonight" driving scene C&T are driving northbound on Biscayne Blvd at 21st St. This is exactly where the bad guys spot C&T (driving southbound) in "Down For the Count Part 2". airtommy
The Braman building is 2075 Biscayne Blvd. It is still there but has been modified and is vacant: https://goo.gl/maps/CLgaxytdwPPYhAct8

I took this on Sunday it’s the exact view you mention airtommy which we see just before the chase in DFTC as the Ferrari is headed southbound - shows perfectly also the building (right of picture) we see at the end of the clip in “Brothers Keeper”. airtommy
When Tubbs comes to the marina to visit Crockett (and Crockett pulls a flare gun on him), I'm confused where exactly Tubbs is walking. Why is there a road with traffic close behind him? Is that Biscayne Blvd?
C Glide
No. That is the old road to the old port of Miami bridge.
C Glide
He is walking from the west toward the east. He is walking from a dead end so that maybe what is confusing you. In real life it would make no sense.

I see now - he's coming from the end of that pier where he couldn't possibly be coming from, walking towards the beginning of that pier where Crockett's slip is. Matt5
I stumbled across some really nice current day shots of Staple / Jay Streets in Manhattan, NY seen at the end of the Pilot’s teaser.
Tom
Nice current pics from the beach hotel where Leon was killed. A bit remodelled, but still recognizable and the beach bar and the wooden terrace with stairs are pretty much unchanged. It was a Howard Johnson hotel back then and is the Plunge Beach Hotel now (4660 El Mar Drive, Lauderdale by the Sea).
Dadrian
@Tom just last night while watching the pilot I was thinking this is one of the only “still there” locations that I’ve yet to visit. Next time...this and The Deering Estate, for sure! ps - I’m really looking forward to the latest version of your book!

I have that location in one of my new location tours in the new book version. As for the new version: the paper version should be ready to buy in a few days. I´ll hit the green button as soon as I have reviewed the final print. The e-book version will take a bit ,as Lulu has screwed up big time with their software to revise older versions. It looks like I have to recreate a completely new project instead of simply uploading a new version. I am trying to fix it but the software gives lot of unexplainable errors and their support is a nightmare. TylerDurden389
I just google mapped that place because it looked very familiar. At first I just assumed a lot of beach-front hotels have a similar architecture and decor, but moving around the street level on the map and seeing/remembering the other buildings confirmed it: I actually stayed at the hotel once for a week and a half one summer, 11 years ago. Pretty nice place for those who are young and looking for a fun time (as I was at the time). C Glide
Just throwing this "proximity" picture in. Was just surfing through some old pictures and happily remembering the on location hunting and thought I would post this one. Building in center of picture is the original OCB where all the interior OCB scenes were filmed on the pilot as well as the jail. Center left, just across the river is where The drug deal was filmed where Tubbs takes off in Sonny's boat. Two great locations in one shot right next to each other. From Oct, 2006.

There's some gap between the photography for the pilot and when they began shooting the rest of the episodes from the summer. If I'm not mistaken, they kinda wanted to test the water with a TV movie if you will before turning it into a full series
