Tom
THE SHOPPING OF DIANE - ONE SHOP LOCATION FOUND? I think I have found at least one of the unknown shops she shopped in and not all was apparently filmed at the same location. The jeweller store is a H Stern store and - bingo - there was one at 4441 Collins, which is the Fountainbleau where they filmed the teaser. The dark and wooden appearance of the store makes it reasonable that it was inside the Fountainbleau and not inside the hip colorful mall impression that we see in the other scenes. H Stern only had one store in Miami. First in Fountainbleau, then later in South Miami and now none. They are in NYC only and in Brazil/Europe. In two other scenes she is in a "...NTREE" shop. I am not good with clothing brands for women and did not find anything current (just a biological fashion brand Entree that has not existed back in 1984), but this could be a clue. The other stores look like a mall - maybe the same mall-, in one scene we see a big neon "Dance Centre" sign that looks like inside a bigger mall. Bal Harbour could be one option or another mall, it´s hard to say now what was a good shopping place in 1984 in that area... Tom
I am convinced that the rest of the shopping scenes were filmed in two different places. The "Dance Centre" decoration in the background of one scene is a low-key shop within a huge hall whereas the rest seems to be filmed in very exclusive stores with crystal chandeliers and golden window frames. In one scene Diane shops in a store with arched windows and trees and other shops vis a vis. The first (cheap) location is unknown and could have been anywhere, but the second is most likely Bal Harbor Shops at 9700 Collins Ave which is en route from the Fontainbleau to the studio. There are/were exclusive shops with arched windows and chandeliers and the inner yard looks exactly what we see outside of the shop on TV. (brand name is partially visible: "...ntree", but yields no brand on the internet that already existed back then. I show some pics here including a (recently opened) Balmain shop at BalHarbor to show the matches. I looked in other malls and shopping areas to including Sunset Drive which was close to other locations in this ep, but Bal Harbor is the only one I found that fits.
Tom
Just for completion´s sake: here is proof that the consulate interior was also filmed at Dennis Jenkins and Associates. Please pay attention especially to the table surface, the door frames, their handles and colors plus the floor. Tom
In Bud Spencer/Terence Hill movie filmed in Miami´s Fontainbleau Hilton Hotel in 1982 we can see a part of the luxury shop mile inside the hotel that was also used for filming in this episode and I believe it was not just the H Stern jewelry shop as confirmed earlier, but also other scenes, See some striking similarities with the step-shaped chandeliers and the writing of the brand names on the walls.

I’m 99% sure that chandelier was still there when we stayed at the Fontainebleau last year. @Matt5?

Tom
UNKNOWN LOCATION: THE CLINIC Still a mystery. The pink color and the arches looks like El Jardin House and there is a place that fits quite well (see arrow in pictures below) but it is not, as the windows, the stairs and the location of the garden behind Valerie do not fit (the garden is very unique with some slim pines and it lools like Viscaya gardens). I also checked other similar houses like Biltmore, Viscaya, but no fit, neither with the columns (very unique pattern on the columns), nor with the floor and the arches with stairs and a balcony. I am running out of ideas. Edited July 17, 2021 by Tom
Tom
@airtommy@daytona365@miamijimf@C Glide @Dadrian @Matt5 GOTCHA! The last mystery of this episode, the clinic, is solved! It was not Villa Viscaya, nor any other we suspected originally on the Coconut Grove stretch, but the area was right. It was simply a location that was used later on in season 5 where we found it last year. It is the Walter De Garmo house at 3467 N. Moorings Way that was also used as Ross´residence in "Miami Squeeze"!. They filmed all clinic scenes there. It flashed me immediately when I saw the stair railings in Miami Squeeze that are identical. I knew that the unique railings and column patterns exist only once. They did a nice job to dress a private home as a clinic. It was once pink and is now more beige, but otherwise no big changes. Same doors, same floor, same garden behind Valerie. Luckily there are many pics (https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/3467-N-Moorings-Way-Miami-FL-33133/43863626_zpid/?mmlb=g,0) and a good realtor video of this recently sold home - Feb 2021 - , so I was able to recreate lots of exact comparison pictures that make this a watertight case! Now this episode is fully checked out location-wise. ENJOY! Click to enlarge! Edited August 5, 2021 by Tom 5

Tables, doors and floor are still the same as in 1985 when Tubbs stormed into the consulate. Very recognizable.

miamijimf
Good pics and video. To me the interior screams 1950s. The best known hotel on the Beach and arguably still the best.

I visualized below what Matt referred to when he stated that Val´s and Rico´s room was filmed inside the Fontainbleau too. Another detail that needs to be updated on CGlide´s website.
Tom
an old pic of the Fontainbleau in the late70s/early 80s that shows the significant balcony doors and horizontal window dividers that helped to confirm the hotel room of Tubbs and Valerie.
