UNKNOWN LOCATION FOUND: LOMBARD´S LAWYER OFFICE

it was an easy find as the office looked somehow familiar with Famiglia (pun intended!). That was the last unknown location in this episode and only 22 locations left unknown.

This exact same office we have seen in Baby Blues as Famiglias office. And we know for sure from the production notes I have that this was filmed in July 1986 inside Wolfberg, Alvarez and Associates (law office) at 5960 SW 57 Ave, Miami. That also makes sense from location logistics, as this is en route to Librizzis villa at 9190 SW 57 Ave.

Evidence to match you can find here between Baby Blues and World of Trouble. The curved glass brick wall (with a big inside yard on the other side that has some sort of open ceiling) is there, as are the same room corners, the same double doors, the same door handles and the same windows (patterns!) all over the building. There is even a file cabinet in this room to prove it´s a law office.

The only things that does not match that in Baby Blues there is no window frame outside the office door when Crockett&Tubbs leave Familiga, but a wall. But as this is a 2-story building, this office exists at least twice and other evidence is overwhelming.

Today it is or was (it seems to be defunct now) the Miami Art Central building (art gallery).  Interior pics I have not found, but evidence is good anyway.

Great find.  Same building used in Season 2s Burn Notice's Seek and Destroy.  Art Central (MAC), 5960 SW 57 Ave (Red Road) Miami (Michael off to new job).  I grew up about 3 miles from there.

I also thought it looked famigliar :-) but I could not remember the episode. I was trying Hard Knocks which features a similar office but did not think of Baby Blues. Looks like all scumbag lawyers have to sit in front of a glass block wall...

LOL, reminds me of the old joke "what are 100 lawyers at the bottom of the sea?" - " a good start..." :D

Thanks for reminding me on the Hard Knocks office which is a still unidentified location. I will add it to the list and look into it. They filmed a lot inside Woody´s for that episode and Woody´s was very versatile inside (also seen in Baseballs of Death that had many scenes filmed inside that looked completely different, e.g. the DEA meeting, the meeting with Speed Stiles, the bar scenes, ...

Just found proof that all the Hard Knocks office and casino scenes were filmed inside 1221 Brickell Ave too. Details are in the HK thread.

Seems your scumbag lawyer assumption with the glass wall gets another confirmation :)

THE MAGIC PHONEBOOTH

There is a small snippet in this episode that we don´t know location-wise: the phone booth scene with Lombard calling his lawyer (who is in the SW57 Ave office)

This is a fake phone as proven by the light swinging it does during this scene. The solution: this is a portable phone they used as a prop and put it whereever they needed. It can be seen as a prop on below BTS picture from Victim of Circumstance behind the Shorecrest hotel.

It was used for example in VOC (positioned in front of the studio for Crockett) but also in WOT for Lombard. I think this location is findable due to the unique wall pattern left and far right. Somewhere near other locations of that ep and I doubt that the re-dressed Dennis Farina just to shoot this scene (he wore the same white jacket with black shirt only in the Quayside kindergarten scenes and when he picked up mail at the post office, which was a studio scene. Thus, I believe it was near the studio.

Firstly Lombard on the phone I’m sure that was filmed in the interior courtyard at the studio.

YES, Sir! And here is finally proof that the Lombard phone scene (with the phony phone booth) was filmed at the studio. But not in the courtyard but on the south entrance at the parking lot.

Below we can see on a very small and blurry pic fro the studio website with a similar wall and a still from a 1989 video of the studio rear next to the big parking lot that I found on the internet. On the 1989 video still we can see a the same wall pattern like we see next to Al Lombard, just that the vertical wall segments are green.

Especially if we focus on the structures that look round from a distance and the thickness of the segments between them, it is very obvious we look on the same wall segments. Also the half-circle left of Lombard is there and can be seen if you look closely to the magnified still. As well as these "beams" distributed from a center of the wall pattern.

As there are no balconies visible behind Al Lombard like in the courtyard but only a plain wall, this must have been filmed at the south entrance at the parking lot. I marked the office center courtyard (where they filmed e.g. scenes in Streetwise and Glades) and the stretch in front of the parking lot where the video still with the wall patterns was taken. The last picture shows where I suspect the exact location of where Lombard and the phone booth were placed. All matches up there. We can even see parts of a car through the wall pattern on the left to prove it was filmed next to the parking lot.

I add another picture I found from the office courtyard which is quite new and the walls we see in the episode and on the 1989 video still were replaced with much slimmer black metal rail ornamental segments. But this is the only picture I found from the courtyard.

Last unknown location snippet of this episode found.

P.S. the 1989 video was taken exactly on 28 Dec1989, 9 months after WOT. So the beige/light yellow wall next to Lombard could have easily been painted green in between.

That’s great - I just recognised those wall segments - So they simply moved the phone booth from the street in front of the studio (Victims of Circumstance) to here.

Yes, it´s the portable phone booth prop that was used in VOC too and it´s on the BTS photo above behhind the Shorecrest,

If you or @C GlideGlide have taken pictures inside Greenwich studios yourself with the wall segments on it please post them here.

Im sure I may well have - of course I will post (they are from around 2014). The studio itself has been empty since 2017 and up for sale since then - I went last year and it was looking a sorry state of affairs - just empty.

I know, sad. But even if your photos are a few years old, they will be for sure much better than the blurry video screencaps I have posted here. On Google satellite there is nothing to see up close.

Hopefully from the south entrance too. I think the courtyard did not have the same segments as the ones with Lombard, as can be seen on my courtyard picture.

Im trying to remember the location I was looking for when I entered the inner courtyard perhaps the door/ what we see in the background in “Glades” or another episode (“Milk Run” perhaps).

Ok here goes, as promised, from my visit to Greenwich Studios, Feb 2014.

From the front of the building - not exact same area as where Lombard was in “World of Trouble” on the phone but that stretch. (See decorative vertical rails - different design to the interior courtyard and the same as we see in WOT).

Thanks! BINGO! The first pic is final proof with the wall segment pattern fully matching with Lombard´s phone location! Case solved.

another nice proof of the Lombard phone scene with the significant vertical column patterns.

Lombard´s phone was positioned at the second wall segment from the left (there was only one segment behind him and before the perpendicular wall in the background) which is out of frame on the left of this picture. But anyway, it´s a great memory of better times, as the studio is closed now.

we can see the distinctive wall pattern also in this rare BTS shot of Emo Philips and Phil Collins that was taken at the same spot on the studio premises (where they filmed the scenes in Phil´s apartment where Phil takes all of Joe´s money and throws him out.
