The "teaser" is the earliest part of the episode; it takes place BEFORE the opening credits.[/quote'] Just like the "tag," in most episodic TV, is the final short segment of the show used between the last commercial break and the end credits, usually to wrap up the story and provide some comic relief.MV did away with using tags to great effect, instead ending stories abruptly and ambiguously ... kind of like real life.

And good call. I hadn't heard it called that before. Now I know. And now that I think about it, I don't think I could ever handle another "Who's the Boss" where they're all sitting around the table at the end laughing at some awful joke. Yuck! I hate those. Some I can dig though, maybe if it was a show like Magnum or Riptide (Riptide might be over the top cheesy though, still, it's 80s, and just a hunch).

Even by the early 1980s the TV show "tags" we're familiar with were so cliched that they were being spoofed:

Good call. Come to think of it the only show whose tags I enjoyed was "Seinfeld".
