HOW BIG IS YOUR TV SCREEN?

How big is your TV for watching MIAMI VICE?At the moment, my TV died. It was from 1997, not really that old. My mother's TV is either from the late 80s or early 90's, and hers still works fine. I'm currently hooked up to the TV that I had in my bedroom. It's a tiny 19 inch. It sucks.I really don't want to spend the money on a new TV, because I don't really watch much TV. I'm either on the computer doing MIAMI VICE things, researching, working, or well, living life. TV does NOT rule my life, so spending money on a new TV seems like a waste of money to me. Besides, I spend thousands of dollars on things quite often, so this is not really something I want to invest in (but I'll look at TV's today anyway). I admit, I'd be very happy with a nice new modern TV, as I've never owned a really nice sized TV, but I just don't want to spend the money when I don't watch TV much. So, what size TV do you watch MIAMI VICE on?

Mine is a 32" LCD TV with 720pi HD .I watch Vice and can hook my laptop and watch also.

That's sweet, hooking your laptop to it! I'm going to look at TVs right now.

The TV in the man cave hasn't but upgraded to widescreen yet, so it's still a 32-inch 4:3 RCA. I actually prefer watching DVDs of 4:3 shows on it, b/c the higher resolution of HD widescreen TVs makes the picture look weird to me, like there's a haze over it. It also avoids the temptation of stretching the picture to make it fit a widescreen TV.

Mine is only a RCA '24 inch I got back in 2007 and still runs perfectly, haven't upgraded to a bigger HD TV yet because Playstation 2 games don't work well on HDTVs as a lot of them aren't even widescreen-compatible and there is a lot films that still haven't seen DVD releases or did see DVD releases but are out of print so I'm keeping VHS around for a while and by extension my standard-def TV, plus although I still got a player for Christmas and enjoy it very much, Blu-ray is still taking off very slowly due to the economy and slumping home video sales.

I bought a projector about 7 or 8 years ago with tax return money. I saw my first episode of Miami Vice, the pilot, on that screen. That would be around 6 years ago now. Trust me, it was awesome. Like a movie! I still watch it on that screen.

nless you're watching HD TV channels or blu-rays there not much point in getting a TV more than 720dpi and probably 32inches. Once you get into HD them the bigger TVs really come into their own. You'll need to look at refresh rates too and maybe 3D to future proof it. But it sounds like all of that isn't so important to you, so a 32inch HD ready TV should be fine and relatively cheap these days. I'm recommend looking at a 5.1 surround sound system. It's the single best piece of AV kit I've ever bought. Watching Miami Vice in 5.1 with a the bass cranked up is just awesome.

46" Sharp Aquos 1080p. I was going to get a 52" but they were out of stock for weeks and I couldn't wait. Even though the black bars appear on the sides of the picture instead of the top & bottom like regular letter boxed movies, Crockett & Tubbs look just fine!

I have a 5 year old 42" wide screen with HD capability. It is LCD and have had to once replace the 100 dollar lamp. :evil:I was at Best Buy the other day and they had a 70" there. That sucker was big. They also had an 80" one priced but the TV was special order, not in stock. I also just read in an article that they are expecting to have 90-100" TVs available then. Some "experts" were saying that this will be impractical for some small condos and apartments due to the closeness in size one has to sit to the TV to see it correctly. I think they said that for a 100", you'd have to be sitting 13' away to view it correctly and some don't have that kind of distance.Lucky for me, I got about 14' and a 100" would take up most of my living room wall!I think I'll wait for them to come out in 3D with the prices somewhat reasonable. Hopefully mine will last me a few more years before I have to upgrade. For what it's worth, I saw Star Wars in 3D at the movies a few weeks ago and that was was awesome. I wish they could find a way to do away with the need for the glasses. Someday. Also the 3D was different then what I expected. In Googleing it there are a few different kinds of 3D out there. I just remember the Jaws 3 3D where the guy's bitten off leg floated out of the screen right into your face. Star Wars was different. It was more of you being in the movie itself. Pretty cool!

29" JVC baby! 2000, picked it up for a steal, takes two men to carry because it's so unwieldy. (Why the hell no handles on something like that?!). I love surround sound though, to me, that is incredibly worth it.I am not some kind of hippie or commie, but I am trying to put an emphasis on centering the old living rm around something else... is there any way I can push past this paradigm that says the t.v. has to be the center of my living room? There goes Cagey again, ruining another thread...P.S., I would like to see MV projected on a wall though, that would be incredible.. Problem is, where do you find a wall :p

60 inch Sharp Aquos LED/LCD with Wi-Fi connectivity integrated into a home theater system and Sony Blu-ray. I wanted the pastel colors and brilliant Miami colors to jump off the screen at me. Have another Aquos in another room and they are great TVs.

I have a 36" JVC in my bedroom. You gotta pull your underwear up really high before you try and lift that sucker. :D And I agree, who designed these things with no handles and the sides and back are all smooth rounded plastic with no hand holds. I scooch/roll/tilt it onto an office chair that does not have arms on it to roll it around on the rare occasion it has to be moved.

All of your responses are wonderful!I did buy a TV today. Although I really don't watch much TV, as this website, and MIAMI VICE are my interest, I really didn't really need anything special, but I did upgrade.I bought a 46" HDTV 1080p full HD. It's an ultra slim design, and has features that I really don't know about, or really care for that matter. I'll have to pay about $180.00 one time fee for the DirecTV Digital Reciever, as my non Digital Reciever makes the picture not too sharp, and a bit fuzzy without a DIGITAL Reciever.1080pL.E.D. High DefinitionSRS TruSuround sound XT Impressive stereo surround soundHDMI x 3 connects up to 3 HDMI devices at the same timeATSC/NTSCPC ImputEnergy StarExtended back light life3D digital noise reductionPC VGA can be used as a computer monitorWall mountableBuilt in Digital tunerRemote controlI really don't know what most of this means, as I don't plan to use it for anything but watching MIAMI VICE, and perhaps some STAR WARS or INDIANA JONES dvd's, or an occational TV show.(Wonder what porn would look like on this set )This TV doesn't have 3-D capability. Yes TIMM25, I too saw SW Episode 1 in 3-D. Lucasfilm said they could have punched up the 3-D in this film, but decided to do what you said, make it appear as though you are there, as there were not too many gimics jumping out at you anyway. It wasn't filmed in 3-D, it's just a conversion. Episode 2 was the world's first feature film to be filmed in 3-D, and now with digital projectors in theaters, it should look crystal clear. Perhaps they will punch up the 3-D next Feb when the next film appears. I'm guessing I won't have to buy a new TV for 3-D for the STAR WARS movies for about 6-7 years when they are all released on 3-D DVD after it's theatrical run. Then I'll upgrade to a 52" or larger, I just don't need something like that now.I still would like everyone to post how big (or small) your TV screen is. It made for interesting reading! So, HOW BIG IS YOUR TV SCREEN?

I have an original Curtis-Mathis console colour tv with a remote control (it has tuning forks inside of it and a system of hammers that hit it when you click the button)My dad bought this back in 1967 when colour was just new and the tv cost a fortune. It still works today!I do however have a 32 inch flat screen lcd in the boat and also a 52 flatscreen in the living room.(don't really watch the old console anymore.....) I'm just amazed it still works! It's more of a nastalgia piece or antique or a piece of furniture...I could use it for a boat anchor as the thing weighs a ton!:D

The fact that it still works is a tribute to how well things were made way back when. Products, whether they be TVs or cars or whatever, were built with pride and the consumer in mind. Today's stuff, although sometimes better, seems to have a built in shelf life so you have to buy another one sooner than you'd like to.

Just traded in the Sharp Aquos for an Aquos Quattron which has the extra yellow pixels (in addition to the standard Red, Green, and Blue pixels) and is noticeably brighter and way more definition to colors like yellow, gold, seagreen, and aquamarine. The sea and pastels in Vice look unbelievably bright compared to the standard Aquos. Watched Def Miami and the colors were fantastic.
