A new Daytona model build?

The fender flares in the front go all the way down & around the belly pan. This was the initial install of the styrene plastic before I trimmed & contoured it.

Yes they do on the McBurnie, as seen on mine:

I want to make sure I’m doing it right! There’s been a few “McBurnie Daytona” model builds but no completed pics of any of them lol. If they ever got completed. Mine will for sure!

The body is waiting on paint. I got exhaust photos from Camera Daytona so bottom chassis has been modified/notched for the correct way the exhaust runs.

A late 70s Corvette light Saddle paint has been ordered for the interior after talking w/ Sonny-Burnett & Daytona365 & seeing the Connolly color swatch which is classified as a “saddle” color.

First attempt at seats (rear photo) and second attempt at seats (forefront). I’ll be using the later set as I believe they look much better IMHO. The seats in front are the widened Vette seats.

I’ve decided to use the 78 Vette Pace car motor over the one that came w/ the Daytona kit. I had to made header collector plates which I’ll shape later. Custom exhaust is in the works so it looks like the Camera Daytona.

So, CD’s engine is pretty much all black. It’s not detailed & though I want to build the replica of the #4 car, the details in the engine bay would be lost on my build. Do I add color to the engine block & detail all the parts? Seems a shame not too even though it won’t be quite right. This is the engine in CD’s #4 car. Then the details I put into the Testarossa motor I recently built. Choices!

The Daytona has color! I found it quite difficult to take photos of this model. I prepped the body so smooth the gloss black paint came out looking like it has lots of depth. See the seashell next to the body for comparison. I still have to wet sand & polish the paint but I need to wait a week or 2 for full cure on the single stage black enamel. Sorry for the dirty mirror photo. Was the brightest light in my house lol.

A few new pieces of the puzzle showed up today. Code M36 Original Corvette Light Saddle interior paint & Boranni wire wheels that are much better than the MV Daytona kit offered. Spinners are still wrong though. They have a sweep to them.
