A little sneak peak before it’s almost finished. Now it’s starting to look like a Daytona

Finally finished the exhaust as it is under the Camera Daytona except that I ran it on the wrong side of the car & the slight exhaust tip difference.

Also made a front engine cover panel to cover the gaping hole area before the radiator.

The Daytona is finished (except for the clear plastic over the headlights)! Quite an undertaking but a very fun project. I did the best w/ the model skills I had & have developed through this project. I’m no professional model builder and I’m sure someone could do better. As far as I know, I’ve just completed the first Camera Daytona replica.

Great detail and I see you had fun building it.

CUDOS!

I just wish when I built mine back in the day I had widened the flares like you did. Heck...I might dig up the old plastic and do it anywhay as a rainy day project in the near future!

Very nice!  As someone who has never done any model work at all, I'm especially impressed by the attention you devoted to the engine!

I say break out that old Daytona & rework it! Flare those fenders! Lol

Im going to do some comparison photos soon with this one & my old original MV Daytona I got back in 86/87 pointing out the differences even though it’s the same model kit. Custom work payed off!

Simply stunning, pal! hat's off to you! the speed and detailed you pulled this off with is truly amazing and you can now savor the sight of this gem everyday with great pride!

as for the plastic over the headlights...I wonder what it would look like if you cut it from a laptop privacy filter...it would be more or less clear if you look at it straight on and tinted if seen from an angle, so it could provide you both the S1 and S2 appearance in one go.

Thank you for the kind words Daytona365!

Ive been thinking about this headlight cover since I completed the car. The issue I’m finding is how to affix it to the front end.

You want the photos CameraDaytona sent me as reference for my 1/24 McBurnie build?

Zaq 178,

I now it's been some time, but Excellent build on your Daytona!  I am also trying to build this, but I am using the Fujimi Ferrari Daytona as my base model.  The Fujimi has it's own issues, but I wanted to try a different approach as I have already done the Revell MV Daytona. I will definitely not be getting into the amount of detail you put into your masterpiece, but any words of wisdom that you learned from your experience?

Thanks!

Thank you for the kind words on my build! This was my first true very custom model build. I didn’t plan on going as far as I did but once the build was underway, I started adding in more details & the to-do list grew out of control lol. This was about a 3 month build I think. Just take your time & think things through. I’ll recommend getting styrene strips in different sizes etc to help you along like when making the fender flares for example.
