Oh man, I was totally going by chance...as it sort of “felt” like that scene you mentioned, rather than actual memory of the movie! Although it’s “based” off a true case (the real life case was a 14 year old boy in the 40s, not a 12 year old girl in the 70s), there was of course a lot added for the film for effect.
